Choosing your class is one of the first major decisions you’ll make in Mistfall Hunter. There are currently six roles to choose from, and importantly, none of them are outright bad. The bigger question is whether a class actually suits how you intend to play.
Some classes are fantastic for solo runs but lose some of their advantages in a coordinated party. Others become dramatically stronger in PvP, while a class such as Seer can be invaluable to a team despite struggling badly when left alone.
To make things easier, I’ve ranked all six Mistfall Hunter classes below based on their overall performance, accessibility, PvE and PvP potential, survivability, and usefulness.
Mistfall Hunter Class Tier List
| Tier | Classes |
|---|---|
| S Tier | Mercenary, Sorcerer |
| A Tier | Blackarrow, Withered Knight |
| B Tier | Shadowstrix, Seer |
The important thing here is that B Tier doesn’t mean bad.
Shadowstrix, for example, can effectively become an S-Tier choice when we’re specifically talking about PvP. Seer is similarly one of the most valuable classes you can bring into a party.
Their lower overall rankings come from being more specialized and harder to recommend universally.
S Tier – Mercenary
If you’re new to Mistfall Hunter and have absolutely no idea which class to start with, Mercenary is probably the safest recommendation.
It’s a straightforward melee fighter built around heavy weapons such as swords and hammers alongside a large shield. That description makes the Mercenary sound basic, but its simplicity is actually one of its biggest strengths.
You get excellent survivability without sacrificing too much offensive potential.
The shield allows you to protect yourself and potentially your allies, while good mobility gives the Mercenary enough flexibility to adapt when encounters become messy.
It’s particularly good for solo players.
You don’t have to rely heavily on another class keeping you alive, and once you’ve invested Talent Points into improving your damage, the Mercenary becomes even more effective.
Mercenary Pros
- Excellent survivability
- Very beginner-friendly
- Easy mechanics to learn and master
- Good overall damage
- Strong mobility for a melee-focused class
- Highly versatile
- Excellent solo choice
- Can protect teammates with its shield
Mercenary Cons
- Very limited ranged capability
- Single-target DPS can feel underwhelming against bosses
Should You Pick Mercenary?
Yes, especially if this is your first character.
Mercenary gives you enough room to make mistakes while you’re learning Mistfall Hunter without forcing you into an overly defensive playstyle. Veterans can still get plenty from it, so it isn’t simply a beginner class you’ll immediately abandon.
Best for: Beginners, solo players, survivability and general PvE.
S Tier – Sorcerer
If you’d rather stay away from enemies and destroy them with spells, Sorcerer is the other standout S-Tier choice.
Its greatest advantage is the combination of exceptional range and high damage potential.
The spell selection also gives the Sorcerer considerably more variety than a straightforward melee build. Once you’re comfortable with its toolkit, you can deal huge amounts of damage without putting yourself directly in harm’s way.
There’s a catch.
Sorcerer is essentially a glass cannon.
Your impressive offensive capabilities don’t mean much if you allow a dangerous enemy or boss to close the distance. Positioning therefore matters enormously.
You need to constantly maintain a safe gap while accurately landing your spells.
Missing repeatedly isn’t merely inefficient. It can leave you vulnerable and completely destroy the advantage you’re supposed to have from fighting at range.
Sorcerer Pros
- Excellent DPS
- Very high damage potential
- Outstanding attack range
- Plenty of spells to experiment with
- Good introduction to ranged gameplay
- Can eliminate threats without entering melee range
Sorcerer Cons
- Relatively fragile
- Poor positioning can get you killed quickly
- Missing important spells is costly
- Slightly harder to learn than Mercenary
Should You Pick Sorcerer?
Pick Sorcerer if you want powerful ranged gameplay and are comfortable managing positioning.
It’s still reasonable for beginners, but unlike Mercenary, it doesn’t forgive careless mistakes quite as easily.
Best for: Ranged players, high DPS and players comfortable maintaining distance.
A Tier – Blackarrow
Blackarrow is Mistfall Hunter’s traditional archer class, and it’s another excellent option if melee combat isn’t your thing.
The class offers excellent range alongside strong damage, allowing you to attack dangerous enemies while remaining outside their immediate reach.
It’s also simply enjoyable if you like bow-focused combat.
Blackarrow does share one major weakness with Sorcerer: you’re fairly vulnerable when enemies get close.
You need to understand enemy movement and constantly create enough distance to continue attacking safely. Melee-focused opponents are particularly dangerous if they manage to pin you down.
Its PvP performance also prevents me from putting Blackarrow alongside Mercenary and Sorcerer in S Tier.
Blackarrow Pros
- Excellent range
- Strong damage potential
- Fun ranged combat
- Relatively easy to understand
- Good class for learning Mistfall Hunter’s ranged gameplay
Blackarrow Cons
- Vulnerable when enemies close the distance
- Melee attackers can be particularly troublesome
- Not as effective in PvP as some alternatives
Should You Pick Blackarrow?
Absolutely if you enjoy archers.
It’s accessible enough for newcomers while still rewarding better positioning and mechanical skill as you improve.
Best for: Bow users, beginners interested in ranged combat and PvE.
A Tier – Withered Knight
Withered Knight is where things become considerably more interesting.
Think of it as something of a middle ground between Mercenary and Shadowstrix.
You’re still heavily focused on melee combat, but Withered Knight brings better mobility and more complicated mechanics into the equation.
One of its defining features is the Withered debuff, allowing you to incorporate increasingly powerful curses into combat.
That gives the class impressive damage potential and fast combos while adding an element of unpredictability.
It’s effective in both PvE and PvP, which makes Withered Knight one of the more flexible choices available.
Why isn’t it S Tier?
Risk.
Withered Knight has more of a high-risk, high-reward identity than Mercenary. Its randomness can occasionally work against you, and it’s much easier for an inexperienced player to make a bad situation worse.
I also wouldn’t make it my first recommendation for someone primarily playing solo.
Withered Knight Pros
- Excellent damage potential
- Fast melee combos
- Strong mobility
- Better effective range than Mercenary
- Useful in both PvE and PvP
- Interesting Withered debuff mechanics
- More complex gameplay than traditional melee
Withered Knight Cons
- Random elements can occasionally hurt your strategy
- High-risk playstyle
- Not particularly beginner-friendly
- Not the best choice for solo newcomers
- Some combos may become repetitive over extended play
Should You Pick Withered Knight?
Choose it if Mercenary sounds too straightforward but you still want melee combat.
You’ll have more mechanics to manage and less room for mistakes, but there’s considerable offensive potential waiting for players willing to learn it.
Best for: Experienced melee players, PvE/PvP hybrids and high-risk builds.
B Tier – Shadowstrix
Shadowstrix is probably the class whose overall tier ranking requires the biggest explanation.
For general play, I’m placing it in B Tier.
For dedicated PvP?
Shadowstrix can easily be considered S Tier.
The class specializes in stealth, positioning and extremely high burst damage. Instead of approaching fights head-on, you want to exploit stealth attacks, maneuver behind opponents and strike when they’re vulnerable.
When everything works, the damage potential is exceptional.
The problem is getting everything to work consistently.
Shadowstrix is arguably one of the hardest Mistfall Hunter classes to master. Poorly combining attacks or mistiming your approach can leave you exposed, and you don’t have the large health pool of something like Mercenary to bail you out.
Its weaknesses become particularly noticeable during PvE.
Bosses aren’t always accommodating to the stealth-heavy strategy Shadowstrix wants to use, making several PvE encounters much more difficult than they would be with another class.
Shadowstrix Pros
- Outstanding PvP potential
- Extremely high DPS
- Excellent damage-focused class
- Stealth creates unique engagement opportunities
- Can become S Tier in the hands of a skilled PvP player
Shadowstrix Cons
- One of the hardest classes to master
- Mistakes are heavily punished
- Relatively low health
- Struggles against several PvE bosses
- Generally weaker for PvE than PvP
Should You Pick Shadowstrix?
Don’t choose Shadowstrix just because you heard it has enormous DPS.
Choose it because you actually want to learn its stealth-oriented combat.
For someone mainly interested in PvP, though, the ranking changes completely. Shadowstrix becomes one of the strongest options available.
Best for: PvP, experienced players, stealth and high-DPS builds.
B Tier – Seer
Seer is the strangest class to rank because its value changes dramatically depending on whether you’re alone or in a party.
In a coordinated group, Seer can effectively be S Tier.
It’s currently the only class capable of healing teammates, and that alone makes it incredibly important when your party starts challenging Mistfall Hunter’s hardest bosses.
Healing also has significant applications during PvP.
Keeping your strongest teammates alive longer can contribute more toward winning an encounter than simply bringing another damage dealer.
But there’s an enormous downside:
Seer struggles badly when playing solo.
Its personal damage potential is extremely limited. Healing yourself has some value, obviously, but that doesn’t solve the fundamental problem of needing to kill enemies efficiently.
A solo Seer can therefore turn encounters that another class handles comfortably into much longer struggles.
Seer Pros
- Only class capable of healing teammates
- Extremely valuable in coordinated parties
- Helps teams survive difficult bosses
- Useful during group PvP
- Can effectively become an S-Tier support in team play
Seer Cons
- Very low personal damage
- Poor solo performance
- Not recommended for beginners
- Much of its strength depends on having teammates
Should You Pick Seer?
Yes—if you’re playing with a team.
If you already have friends covering your damage requirements, having a dedicated Seer can transform your party.
For primarily solo play, I’d pick almost anything else.
Best for: Parties, support players, difficult group PvE and coordinated PvP.
Best Mistfall Hunter Class for Beginners
My first recommendation is Mercenary.
It combines three things that are extremely useful while learning:
Survivability + simple mechanics + reliable damage.
You can concentrate on understanding enemies, maps, extraction mechanics and progression rather than simultaneously learning an unforgiving class.
For players who absolutely want ranged combat, Sorcerer or Blackarrow are the better starting alternatives.
Best Class for Solo Players
Again, Mercenary takes this one.
Its survivability and versatility mean you’re not overly dependent on teammates covering your weaknesses.
I’d rank the most attractive solo options roughly as:
Mercenary > Sorcerer > Blackarrow > Withered Knight > Shadowstrix > Seer
That doesn’t mean a skilled Shadowstrix player can’t perform well alone. It’s simply much easier to get consistent results from the classes toward the front of the list.
Best Class for PvP
This is where Shadowstrix jumps from B Tier to S Tier.
Stealth and massive DPS make it exceptionally dangerous against other players once you’ve mastered its mechanics.
Withered Knight is another strong choice because its mobility, damage and melee toolkit translate well between PvE and PvP.
Seer also becomes considerably more valuable when supporting an organized PvP group.
Best Class for Team Play
Seer deserves special recognition here.
Having the game’s only dedicated teammate-healing capability means its usefulness increases enormously as encounters become more difficult.
A good party doesn’t necessarily need every member dealing maximum DPS. Keeping your damage dealers alive can be far more valuable.
That means the overall B-Tier placement shouldn’t discourage dedicated support players from picking Seer.
Which Mistfall Hunter Class Should You Choose?
Here’s the simplest way I’d approach the decision:
| If You Want… | Pick |
|---|---|
| Best overall beginner class | Mercenary |
| Best solo class | Mercenary |
| Strong ranged magic | Sorcerer |
| Traditional ranged/archer gameplay | Blackarrow |
| Complex melee gameplay | Withered Knight |
| PvP and stealth | Shadowstrix |
| Team healing/support | Seer |
| High survivability | Mercenary |
| High ranged DPS | Sorcerer |
| High-risk, high-reward combat | Withered Knight / Shadowstrix |
Ultimately, Mistfall Hunter doesn’t have a class you absolutely need to avoid.
The overall tier list favors Mercenary and Sorcerer because they’re powerful without being restricted to a narrow situation. Blackarrow and Withered Knight remain excellent alternatives, while Shadowstrix and Seer become dramatically better when used for the jobs they were designed around.
If you’re completely undecided, start with Mercenary. If you’re joining friends and they already have their damage covered, Seer becomes far more attractive. And if PvP is the main reason you’re playing Mistfall Hunter, don’t let Shadowstrix’s B-Tier overall ranking fool you—it’s potentially one of the most dangerous classes in the game.
