If you’ve made it far enough to meet Red Death, you already know this isn’t a normal boss fight. The first time most players reach him, it ends in seconds. No warning, no mercy, just instant defeat. So yeah, this fight is less about skill and more about preparation, patience, and a bit of clever setup before you even enter the battle.
Let’s walk through this properly, like I would explain it to a friend who’s stuck on this exact boss.
Red Death isn’t just strong. He has a mechanic that straight up deletes you if you’re not ready. If your health is too low when the fight begins, you don’t even get a chance to play. That’s why most early attempts feel unfair.
The trick is simple in theory but takes time to set up:
You need absurd health and scaling before you even think about fighting him.
Step 1: Start With Imelda (This Actually Matters)
Pick Imelda at the start of your run.
She gives you bonus XP whenever you play yellow cards, and this becomes the backbone of the entire strategy. You’re not rushing fights here. You’re building momentum.
Think of this phase as “setup mode,” not combat.
Step 2: Infinite XP Farming Strategy
Here’s where things get a bit cheesy, but it works.
When you enter fights:
- Only play yellow cards (for XP gain)
- Use blue armor cards to survive
- Avoid using attack cards completely
Yes, seriously. Don’t end the fight.
Instead, keep cycling cards and dragging the fight out as long as possible. The goal is to stack your XP multiplier shown in the top right.
You want:
- At least 400% XP, but more is even better
This lets you level up insanely fast, which means more rewards, better cards, and stronger scaling.
It feels slow at first, but this is what makes the entire strategy work later.
Step 3: Build Your Core Deck (Health Engine)
Once you’ve farmed enough XP, start focusing on these cards:
- Forever Heart cards – Increase max health permanently
- Red Heart cards – Healing and survivability
- Brazier cards – Increase your hand size
This is your core engine.
At this stage, you’re basically doing the same thing as before:
- Stall fights
- Spam healing
- Stack max HP
Don’t rush to win fights. The longer you stay alive, the stronger you get.
Step 4: Health Goal (This Is Non-Negotiable)
Before facing Red Death:
- Minimum: 100 HP (just to survive the entry)
- Recommended: 1000+ HP
Yes, 1000 sounds crazy, but this boss takes a long time to kill, and you will take damage over multiple turns.
If you go in underprepared, you’re just wasting your run.
Step 5: Entering the Red Death Fight
Once your health is high enough, the fight will actually start instead of instantly killing you.
Now the strategy shifts from survival to damage over time.
Step 6: The Peachone Combo Strategy (Your Main Damage)
This is where the real damage comes from.
You want to:
- Use Brazier cards to expand your hand
- Play combos that end with Peachone cards
Why Peachone?
- They summon birds that attack automatically
- They persist and don’t expire
- They stack endlessly
So the longer the fight goes, the more damage you build passively.
At some point, you’ll have a swarm of birds constantly hitting Red Death between turns.
Step 7: Surviving the Long Fight
Even with a strong setup, this fight takes time.
A few important tips:
- Keep stacking Peachone whenever possible
- Maintain your health with heart cards
- Use armor cards smartly
- Don’t rush turns, think about survivability
Also, attaching armor gems to key cards can make a noticeable difference. It gives you that extra buffer you’ll need during longer rounds.
Beating Red Death feels less like winning a fight and more like executing a plan you set up 20 minutes earlier. Once everything clicks, though, it’s actually one of the most satisfying wins in the game.
If your first few attempts failed, that’s normal. Mine did too. But once you focus on XP farming, health stacking, and Peachone scaling, the fight becomes manageable instead of impossible.
