How to Evolve Weapon in Vampire Survivors

Evolving weapons requires meeting three primary conditions to ensure a successful upgrade.

  1. Level the base weapon to 8; exceptions will be noted when they occur.
  2. Possess the required passive item, and if marked (Max), it must be fully leveled.
  3. Open a Treasure Chest from a champion or boss, as most evolutions only trigger from these.

Exceptions and Additional Tips:

  • The first chest in Mad Forest (dropped by the Glowing Bat at 1:00) can trigger evolutions.
  • All treasure chests in Dairy Plant, Il Molise, Cappella Magna, and Boss Rash stages allow weapon evolutions regardless of time.
  • Chests containing Arcanas (at 11:00 and 21:00) do not trigger evolutions.
  • The Gyorunton evolution can activate with any chest granting items, broadening your options.
  • For stages like Infinite Corridor, Crimson Shroud, and Sole Solution, all relevant passive items need to be fully leveled as well.
  • The Bracelet series and the Super Candybox II Turbo do not require passives to evolve.
  • DLC Arcana tips: Darkasso VI’s “Moonlight Bolero” spawns extra chest-carrying enemies, and Darkasso X’s “Hail From The Future” grants an item on level-up, which can generate targeted picks.
  • On DLC maps, use the pause menu’s green arrow to locate items efficiently; avoid cursed rings unless intentionally seeking their challenge.

When a weapon evolves, the original base weapon is replaced by its evolved form. Multi-item evolutions remove all base components and add the new combined weapon. Certain evolutions, like Alucard Swords upgrading to Alucard Shield or the ranked evolutions Vol Luminatio/Vol Umbra, can be further upgraded beyond the first stage.

When evolving a weapon, the base weapon is removed and the evolved weapon is added. For unions/multi-part evolutions, all base items are removed and the combined form is added. Certain evolutions (e.g., Alucard Swords → Alucard Shield, Vol Luminatio/Vol Umbra) can be ranked further after the first evolution.
