Anime Guardians Tier List Update 23 (2026)

Update 23 shifted the Anime Guardians meta heavily, especially with the introduction of the Re:Zero witches. Some older top-tier units were pushed down, while a few new characters instantly became must-haves. This guide focuses on the units that are actually worth your rolls, upgrades, and resources right now.

Anime Guardians Tier List Update 23 (2026)

Carmilla – Witch of Lust

Role:
Main DPS

Carmilla is currently one of the strongest DPS units in the entire game. Her damage output is high enough that she replaced older meta DPS units that players relied on for multiple updates. In real matches, her damage feels consistent rather than bursty, which makes her reliable across long stages and boss fights.

What makes Carmilla stand out is how well she scales. Even before full investment, she performs at a level that competes with top-end units. Once upgraded, she completely dominates waves and outperforms several older “must-have” characters. If you are choosing one unit to focus on this update, Carmilla should be at the top of that list.

Regulus

Role:
Support / Staller

Regulus is one of the strongest utility units available in Update 21. His value does not come from raw damage, but from how effectively he disrupts enemies and controls the pace of the match. Compared to older stalling units, Regulus feels more impactful and reliable.

In practice, Regulus fits perfectly into high-level teams because he enables your DPS units to do their job safely. He is now recommended over some previously popular stallers, which says a lot about how strong his utility currently is. If your team lacks control, Regulus fills that gap immediately.

Reinhard

Role:
High DPS

Reinhard remains a top-tier damage dealer and continues to be one of the most reliable units in the game. While Carmilla may have overtaken him in raw DPS potential, Reinhard still performs extremely well in both general content and harder stages.

His strength lies in consistency. He doesn’t require perfect positioning or specific team setups to perform well. Even though he is no longer the single best DPS, he is still one of the safest investments you can make.

Typhon

Role:
Support (HP Reduction)

Typhon is not a damage-focused unit, but her impact is felt immediately in harder content. Her main strength comes from reducing enemy HP, which allows your DPS units to clear waves and bosses much faster than they normally would.

In real gameplay, Typhon shines in longer stages where enemies have large health pools. She doesn’t look flashy on paper, but once you use her in proper team setups, her value becomes very obvious. She is one of the most important support units introduced in this update.

Subaru – Gluttony

Role:
Meta DPS

The Gluttony version of Subaru entered the meta as a legitimate DPS unit. He performs well enough to compete with established damage dealers and fits nicely into several high-end team compositions.

What makes this Subaru strong is how flexible he is. He works well alongside both new and older units, making him a valuable option if you don’t have access to every top-tier character.

Subaru – Support Version

Role:
Buffer / Support

This Subaru continues to be the best buffer in the game. Despite multiple updates and new units being added, his support value has not been replaced or power-crept.

He enhances team performance in a way no other unit currently does, which is why he remains mandatory in most optimized teams. If you already have him, there is no reason to remove him from your lineup.

Minerva and Sekhmet

Role:
Collection Units

These units are not bad, but they are no longer priorities. Even free units obtained simply by logging into the game currently outperform them in practical scenarios.

They are worth owning for collection purposes, but investing resources into them is not recommended unless you already have all major meta units fully built.

Best Units Overall in Update 23

Even after the update, some long-standing units like Sukuna and Garou remain extremely strong. However, Carmilla’s arrival reshaped the DPS hierarchy, pushing her into the top tier and replacing older core damage dealers in optimal teams.

At the moment, the strongest teams revolve around Carmilla as the main DPS, supported by utility units like Regulus, Typhon, and the support Subaru. This setup offers high damage, control, and survivability without relying on outdated or unobtainable characters.

Update 23 made Anime Guardians more focused by clearly defining which units are worth chasing. Carmilla is now one of the best DPS units in the game, Regulus and Typhon dominate support roles, and Reinhard remains a strong fallback for players without perfect luck.

If you are deciding where to spend rolls, upgrades, and levels, prioritize the units that actively shape the current meta rather than maxing characters you won’t use later.
