If you’re starting Anime Paradox on release or just joined after early access, the game can feel confusing fast. Banners look tempting, traits feel impossible to roll, and half the modes don’t even explain why they exist. This guide walks you through the cleanest beginner path so you don’t waste gems, rerolls, or time.
This is written from a starter → midgame → early endgame perspective, not from someone already sitting on multiple secrets.
First 10 Minutes – What to Do Immediately
As soon as you load in, redeem every available code. At launch there are usually very few, sometimes only one, but even that matters because early gems decide your entire start.
After redeeming codes, claim the free unit hidden in the lobby (climbing spots and freebies are common in Anime Paradox). This unit alone isn’t going to carry you, but it gives you something to place while you roll.
Now comes the important part: do not spam the banner blindly.
The standard banner early on is extremely misleading. Most legendaries look flashy but fall off fast. You’re not rolling to build a perfect team yet, you’re rolling to get one or two mythics that can clear story and unlock content.
Best Units
For a clean start, your priority mythics should be:
Broly
One of the best beginner mythics in the game. He has wide AoE, strong damage without perfect traits, and can clear story stages easily.
Kilawa
More single-target focused than Broly, but an excellent boss killer. If you pull Kilawa early, keep him.
Cell
Very underrated for beginners. He is extremely easy to evolve now compared to early access and becomes one of the best tanks in the game. Cell + one DPS unit can clear almost the entire story.
If you pull any two of these, you are set for early progression.
Do not worry about bad traits early. Even something like Blessing is enough to clear story content.
Story Progression
Once you have one or two evolved mythics, immediately push story mode. Story unlocks:
- Challenges
- Nightmare difficulty
- Legend stages
- Better gem income
You can realistically clear the entire normal story with just Cell + one DPS mythic, even without good traits.
After story, move directly into Challenges.
Challenges
Challenges are one of the most important beginner systems.
You should focus on:
- Quick Challenges
- Daily Challenges
- Hourly Challenges
These give:
- Evolution materials
- Trait rerolls
- Gold
- Essences
Evolution used to be painful, but it has been heavily nerfed. Right now, evolving one or two units early is very achievable.
This is where most beginners mess up: do not waste trait rerolls early.
Nightmare Mode
Once you have 2 evolved mythics, Nightmare mode becomes very doable.
Nightmare stages:
- Give better rewards
- Prepare you for Legend stages
- Are needed for efficient farming
Clear Nightmare only after evolving, not before. Trying too early just slows you down.
The Easiest Secret to Get – Ichigo
This is the single most important beginner tip.
Ichigo is the easiest secret unit in Anime Paradox.
You can farm him from Legend Stages with around a 2% drop rate, which is insanely high compared to banners.
Many players get Ichigo before getting their second or third mythic.
How to farm Ichigo efficiently:
- Evolve 2 mythic units
- Farm Legend Stage 3
- Save all trait rerolls for Ichigo
- Do not reroll traits on other units
Once you get Ichigo, your progression speed skyrockets. He is an SSS-tier unit and works even without perfect traits.
Leveling Units
Do not rely on feeding units for XP. Feeding gives very little value.
The best way to level units is:
- Put them in your active team
- Clear stages normally
XP is shared globally across your team. This means simply playing the game levels everyone faster than feeding.
Once a unit hits level 50, then you can think about stat rerolls.
Trait Reroll Farming
Trait rerolls are extremely rare and extremely important.
Best sources early:
- Challenges
- Nightmare clears
- Legend stages
- Milestones
Save every reroll for Ichigo first.
Do not reroll Broly, Cell, or Kilawa early unless you already have Ichigo built.
Good traits are hard to roll. This is normal. Even average traits are enough to progress.
Raids, Siege & True Endgame
After Ichigo, the game opens up:
- Raids → Used to farm Sunjin Wu
- Siege → Used to farm Igris, currently very hard
- Raid Shop → Massive source of rerolls and materials
Sunjin Wu is farmable and extremely strong. Igris is powerful but Siege is currently endgame-only and not beginner friendly.
Do not stress about Sid or Star units. Their rates are absurdly low and not part of a normal progression path.
