Demons’ Timeline challenges you to unravel a murder mystery purely through social media posts, piecing together who’s who from cryptic clues. Chapter 1: Quirky sets the pace with just four suspects, serving as a gentle introduction to the deduction mechanics, though newcomers might find the puzzle nature deceptively tricky.
Demons’ Timeline Chapter 1 Walkthrough
This case puts you inside a game company rocked by the discovery of a dead body in their office. The investigation begins by gathering data and scouring social accounts, each belonging to employees entangled in the mystery.
Data Recovery
Before diving into the social timelines, start by exploring the data folder on your in-game computer. Decrypting this information requires answering questions that tie back to glossary terms, providing essential context while completing objectives.
Here are the correct answers for Chapter 1’s data questions:
| Question | Answer |
|---|---|
| L calls the bizarre incidents caused by demons “???” | Paradox |
| Internet slang used as a euphemism for “taking one’s own life” | Self-drop |

Account Identification
With the data in hand, it’s time to uncover each account’s true owner. Four employees’ identities lurk behind main and sub accounts scattered throughout the timeline. While you can tackle them in any order during play, we’ll follow the sidebar list for clarity.
Yasunari Takada
Identifying Takada’s main account is straightforward but subtle. The Copenhage profile shares a birthday indicating the user is 27, matching only two suspects, cementing it as Takada’s with further clues from other accounts.
The sub-account is even easier once you spot the post outlining the crime’s timeline without naming Takada himself—it’s a first-person account from his sub-account, Sub Account <Aqua>.
So, Takada’s accounts are:
Main Account: Copenhage
Sub Account: Sub Account <Aqua>
Sub Account: Sub Account <Aqua>
Noriko Kurotani
Map designer Kurotani’s main account hides beneath an online identity suffering at the hands of their manager. Sub Account <White> reveals emotional posts about the toxic relationship, guiding you to her main account: Kaitaro Tase, whose posts also hint the user is female.
So in order for us to find the main account, we’ll need to find an account of someone being harassed by their boss. This won’t be hard at all as the tutorial for Nyasuteria’s ability you found an account whose real thoughts were lamenting that their boss didn’t die instead: Kaitaro Tase. In addition to this, the player can find comments on Kaitaro Tase’s posts which talk about how the account owner is clearly a woman.
Her sub-account, Sub Account <Yellow>, describes the moment the dead body was discovered, linking back to Kurotani’s supervisor’s murder and frustration. This gives us:
Main Account: Kaitaro Tase
Sub Account: Sub Account <Yellow>
Sub Account: Sub Account <Yellow>
Toru Nikaido
Project manager Nikaido leaves behind a very obvious trail. The Good Luck, New Employees account includes his birthday and constant complaints about coworkers, leaving no doubt it’s his.
Likewise, his sub-account, Sub Account <Black>, mirrors his insults and attitude, confirming the connection as:
Main Account: Good Luck, New Employees
Sub Account: Sub Account <Black>
Main Account: Good Luck, New Employees
Sub Account: Sub Account <Black>
Hikari Hanamatsu
Social media manager Hanamatsu’s identity is fairly free to confirm given her company’s official account, EPORO Official, which she controls.
Her sub-account requires connecting the dots between a mistaken post on EPORO’s official timeline and a confession found on Sub Account <White> about making such a blunder, pinpointing her precise identity:
Main Account: EPORO Official
Sub Account: Sub Account <White>
Sub Account: Sub Account <White>
Quoting Parrots
Next, we will need to quote three separate posts that we can find throughout our timeline in order to get a full grasp of the crime and order of events.
Testimony Revealing Sequence of Events
First we need to find testimony revealing the sequence of events. Our hint to find this one is that it’s located on Takada’s sub account. In fact, it’s the same post we used earlier to identify him. Go to Sub Account <Aqua> and scroll down to the first post on the account. This post begins saying it’s a summary of what happened so it’s not too hard to find.
News Report That Made the Incident Public
Next, we have to locate the news report that brought our attention to this case in the first place. Our hint is that it comes from a news account, but that isn’t really a hint we need considering the context. Go to the profile of Taboo News and look for the report with the headline Major Game Company: Employee Found Dead Under Mysterious Circumstances. This is the post you need to quote.
Event that Intensified Nikaido’s Harrasment
Finally, we need to find and quote that event that turned Nikaido from an ordinary boss into one who spends every hour of the day harassing his employees. If you can recall the replies under the Good Luck, New Employees account you’ll remember that there was a rumor about the account owner’s wife dying a few years ago.
This is more than an unfounded rumor, as Nikadio’s wife was actually a victim of the Red Eye Serial Murders in the opening cutscene of the game. Go to the Taboo News account and quote the post with the headline Unsolved Case: 5 Years Later. This will help L piece together that the two cases are connected.
