Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave challenges players with a variety of unique characters to recruit, and few require as much effort as Sha Lan. Unlike units you can add simply by friendship and items, recruiting Sha Lan demands completing a tough paralogue followed by a quiz. With her exceptional healing skills, unlocking Sha Lan can be a huge advantage if you’re prepared for the challenge ahead.
Sha Lan’s recruitment is tied to a specific paralogue event that remains consistent regardless of your chosen route, making her available at the same point in the story across certain paths. Her recruitment requirements differ depending on whether you’re playing as Leda, Dietrich, or other lords, ensuring varied experiences for each playthrough.
| Route | Support Requirement | Renown Requirement | Special Requirement |
|---|---|---|---|
| Cai | N/A | N/A | N/A |
| Leda | 3 | 8 | Clear Anatolia’s Paralogue and Pass her Quiz |
| Theodora | N/A | N/A | N/A |
| Dietrich | 3 | 10 | Clear Anatolia’s Paralogue and Pass her Quiz |
Only the Leda and Dietrich routes allow you to recruit Sha Lan because her paralogue takes place in Dagison on 10/5, a mission unavailable to Cai and Theodora’s paths. Make sure to accept and complete this paralogue before 10/17, as it will expire and become inaccessible after that date.
The paralogue, titled Queen of the Erased, requires you to escort five Kunlun citizens through a room filled with relentless worm enemies. If three of these NPCs fall, the mission ends in failure. The key to success here is patience and careful defense, protecting the citizens as they slowly advance toward the escape point.
At the room’s center lurks a massive hydra-like creature that’s nearly impossible to defeat without overpowering your squad. This hydra’s scream will inflict confusion on your NPCs, forcing you to spend turns curing the status. You can prevent the hydra’s scream by killing multiple worms in one turn, so prioritize efficient enemy elimination whenever possible.
Midway through the map, you’ll need to teleport some party members to the hydra’s left flank to divert its attention from the fleeing NPCs on the right. Fast, evasive units like Mu work incredibly well for this baiting tactic, helping keep your escorts safe from the hydra’s attacks longer.
Once the surviving citizens reach the exit, position Anatolia at the escape point and select the escape option to clear the paralogue. This completes the mission but doesn’t immediately unlock Sha Lan’s recruitment—there’s one more step.
Sha Lan will challenge you with a brief quiz to prove you’re experienced enough to travel together. Answering all her questions correctly will finally convince her to join your party and bolster your healing capabilities.
| Question | Answer |
|---|---|
| I’d love to see Alecto someday. Do you know where it’s located? | Saramis |
| The weapons are even named after the town itself. Can you tell me what the town is called? | Da Mina |
| It’s huge, and there are stories of treasure hidden within. What is it? | Guess a grounded ship |
After you answer correctly, Sha Lan joins your ranks. Her personal skill allows her to perform assist magic after using Draw Back, effectively granting her two actions per turn—a fantastic asset for any strategic healer in your party.
After successfully answering all of her questions, Sha Lan will finally join your party. After all that work, you’d best believe that she is an incredibly useful healer. Her personal skill allows her to use assist magic after using Draw Back, giving her effectively two actions per turn.
