Moonlighter 2 The Endless Vault introduces some tougher encounters as you progress beyond Kalina, and The Curator Mechanic Collector is one of the fights that can quickly become overwhelming if you do not understand what is happening around the arena.
After defeating the bosses in Kalina and making your way into the Gallery, you will eventually reach the Exhibition Wing and face this unusual mechanical boss. The Curator is not a simple enemy that you can stand next to and repeatedly attack. You will need to watch the arena, dodge projectiles, react to lasers, and make good use of your backpack attacks.
In this post, we will show you how to defeat The Curator Mechanic Collector in Moonlighter 2: The Endless Vault, including what to prepare before the battle, how each phase works, what attacks you need to watch out for, and the rewards you receive after winning.
Moonlighter 2 The Endless Vault The Curator Mechanic Guide
Before jumping into the fight, I recommend spending some time preparing your character. The Curator is a unique boss, and the difficulty noticeably increases once you reach the Gallery.
First, make sure you have upgraded your preferred weapon as much as possible. You will have several opportunities to deal damage during the fight, so having a stronger weapon helps you make the most of those openings.
You should also upgrade your health and potions whenever possible. The later stages of this battle can become chaotic, and having extra healing available can make a huge difference.
Another thing you should check is Julian the Patchelier and the upgrades he currently offers. Some of these upgrades can improve your damage, increase your maximum health, or reduce the damage you take. We found that having a few useful upgrades before entering the Gallery makes this encounter much more manageable.
Phase 1
The Curator works differently from the bosses you fought earlier. Instead of simply chasing you around the arena, he acts more like a moving mechanical tower.
However, the boss itself is not your only problem. There are guns positioned on three sides of the arena, and they will continuously fire projectiles throughout the entire fight.
You cannot destroy these guns, so there is no point trying to attack them. Instead, you need to constantly keep an eye on incoming projectiles while focusing your damage on The Curator.
The floor of the arena has a visible grid, and this is important because The Curator moves along these grid lines.
Before moving, he highlights a line on the ground and pauses briefly. This delay gives you one of your best opportunities to get close and land attacks before he begins moving again.
Four Rotating Lasers
One of the first attacks you will see involves The Curator pulling out four lasers and quickly rotating them in the direction he has chosen.
Watch the direction carefully and move out of the path of the lasers. You do not want to get caught focusing entirely on attacking while the rotation begins.
The boss can also combine his movement with other arena hazards, so always keep enough space around yourself to dodge.
Electrified Border and Charging Attack
When The Curator reaches the edge of the grid, he connects to one of the nearby guns and electrifies the outer border of the arena.
This is followed by a much more dangerous sequence. The boss fires vertical laser beams from above and below while charging in a straight line toward the opposite side of the arena.
He will continue moving back and forth several times before the grid eventually returns to normal.
During this attack, we recommend completely forgetting about dealing damage. Your only job is to survive.
Stay away from the electrified outer border, move away from The Curator’s charging path, and dodge the vertical lasers as he travels across the arena. Trying to squeeze in extra attacks here is usually not worth the risk.
Once you remove around one-third of The Curator’s health, you can use your backpack attack to throw away the bottom part of the boss.
This brings you into the next phase.
Phase 2
The Curator now has only two main parts, but the fight introduces another mechanic that you need to deal with.
The boss gains a shield that prevents you from damaging him normally. To remove it, you need to pay attention to the purple objects he drops.
Use your backpack attack to direct these purple objects back toward The Curator. After landing a few successful hits, you should break the shield and return to attacking the boss normally.
Counterclockwise Rotating Lasers
During this phase, The Curator stays in the center of the grid and fires four lasers that rotate counterclockwise around the arena.
The lasers can cover a large area, but the attack is manageable once you get used to its movement.
Keep moving and dodge whenever one of the lasers approaches your position. While avoiding them, continue attacking whenever you have a safe opening.
The key here is not to panic. You can keep dealing damage while moving as long as you pay attention to where the lasers are rotating.
Shockwaves
The next major attack sends shockwaves across the entire arena.
By this point, you have probably already dealt with similar shockwave attacks during earlier encounters. The strategy remains simple: time your dodge correctly and pass through the shockwave.
Once you avoid it, immediately continue attacking.
After dealing enough damage during this phase, you will get another opportunity to use your backpack attack on a piece of The Curator.
This time, though, the piece does not disappear completely.
Instead, it stays in the arena and becomes another threat.
Phase 3
The final phase is where things become significantly more chaotic.
You now have three major things to watch at the same time: The Curator, the guns positioned around the arena, and the separated piece that now performs attacks independently.
The good news is that you effectively have two targets available to attack, and both of them share the same health bar.
The bad news is that both targets can attack you, and their laser patterns can quickly overwhelm you if you lose track of what is happening.
This is why we strongly recommend saving as much healing as possible for this final stage.
Breaking The Curator’s Shield Again
The Curator gains another shield during this phase and starts firing purple objects toward you.
The mechanic works the same way as before. Use your backpack attack to send the purple objects back at him.
Keep doing this until you destroy the shield, then take advantage of the opening to deal as much damage as possible.
The Separated Piece’s Laser Attack
The separated piece can use the four-laser quick rotation attack that you saw earlier.
The direction is highlighted on the grid, so watch the floor and react before the lasers begin moving.
This becomes much harder because you may also be dealing with projectiles or attacks from The Curator at the same time.
Try not to stand too close to either target. Keeping some distance gives you more room to react when multiple attacks overlap.
The Most Dangerous Attack Combinations
The worst situations usually happen when both enemies begin using different attacks at the same time.
For example, the separated piece may activate the electrified area attack while The Curator sends shockwaves toward you.
This requires good timing, and honestly, you may still get hit occasionally because there is so much happening at once.
The two enemies can also mix and match attacks from the previous phases, making the final stage unpredictable.
Do not waste all your healing early in the fight. If you can survive the first two phases while saving potions, you will have a much better chance of finishing the battle during this final section.
Focus on staying alive first, avoid trying to greed for unnecessary damage, and attack whenever the arena gives you a safe opening.
The Reward
After successfully defeating The Curator Mechanic Collector, you will receive two chests containing high-quality relics.
You will also obtain a new crafting material called Quantum Core.
This makes the fight worthwhile, especially since it marks your progress deeper into the Gallery and gives you valuable materials and relics for the challenges ahead in Moonlighter 2: The Endless Vault.
