  • Following the September 28, 2026 maintenance, players instantly received maintenance rewards that included 1,000 Starchrom, 100 Mitsuko’s Marks, an Epic Stardust Secret Crate S14, and crucially, the Dog Selection Crate. This crate allowed players to select one from three dogs: Labrador , Blackback , or Doberman . This was a one-time free claim available only to those who logged in right after the update.

Once Human introduced the Dog Deviants during a limited-time event that caught players’ attention with their charming design and base utility. These companions aren’t just cosmetic; knowing their role and how to acquire them adds a nice touch to managing your territory and maintaining your Sanity.

The Dog Deviant feature came alive during the Version 3.0.7 update in late September 2026, re-releasing three distinctive Territory Deviants. Each player who logged in during this period had the chance to claim a free Dog Selection Crate as part of maintenance rewards, marking a unique moment for collectors and utility seekers alike.

During that window, every player received a free Dog Selection Crate from the maintenance rewards (Deviation Level and Stability Level 3). A stronger 5/5 version was also available through the Golden Autumn Harvest event.

Both free methods have now ended. Here’s what those rewards were and how the dogs work.

Following the September 28, 2026 maintenance, players instantly received maintenance rewards that included 1,000 Starchrom, 100 Mitsuko’s Marks, an Epic Stardust Secret Crate S14, and crucially, the Dog Selection Crate. This crate allowed players to select one from three dogs: Labrador , Blackback , or Doberman . This was a one-time free claim available only to those who logged in right after the update.

After the September 28, 2026 maintenance, every player received maintenance rewards in the mail: 1,000 Starchrom, 100 Mitsuko’s Marks, one Epic Stardust Secret Crate S14 and one Dog Selection Crate.

You could choose one of the three limited Deviations:

  • Labrador
  • Blackback
  • Doberman

If you missed the initial claim but still find the unopened Dog Selection Crate in your inventory or mailbox, open it promptly to choose your companion. These rewards are shared across all characters on an account, so you only needed to claim once, not for every alternate character.

Rewards were shared across characters under the same account, so you don’t need to claim it on every alt.

How You Could Get a 5/5 Dog Deviant

To acquire a maxed-out 5/5 Dog Deviant, participating in the Golden Autumn Harvest event was key. Daily logins awarded a Golden Leaf at 6:00 AM server time, which you could collect and accumulate to unlock permanent weapon cosmetics and eventually earn a Golden Autumn Deviation 5-5 Grade Selectable Gift Box.

Opening this gift box granted access to a wider selection beyond just the three dog breeds. The full list included Labrador, Blackback, Doberman, and others like Flame Essence, Brave George, Rain Man, Whalepup, and Soul Summoner, all available at top 5/5 Deviation and Stability levels.

  • Labrador
  • Blackback
  • Doberman
  • Flame Essence
  • Brave George
  • Rain Man
  • Whalepup
  • Soul Summoner

Yes, the three dogs were fully included at full 5/5 Deviation Level and Stability Level. Share the event for some extra limited-time critter expressions. Again, rewards are account-shared.

Labrador vs Blackback vs Doberman

The three dog breeds—Labrador, Blackback, and Doberman—are identical in mechanics and stats, each using the Furrever Friends skill. Their main difference lies in appearance, so the ideal choice depends on your aesthetic preference rather than performance benefits.

What Does the Dog Deviant Do

These dogs function as Territory Deviations that you place in a Securement Pod within your base. Once deployed, they activate Furrever Friends, following a designated player and providing continuous Sanity restoration. Outside their owner’s presence, the dogs remain passive, generally ignoring other players.

They don’t fight and aren’t combat companions. Keep their mood up the normal Territory Deviation way and you’ll get steady Sanity support plus some cute company around the base.

Could You Get All Three Dog Deviants?

No, the free Dog Selection Crate gave you one choice. The Golden Autumn Harvest 5/5 box also gave you one choice from its larger list (which includes the three dogs).

Dog Deviant vs Lonewolf’s Whisper

Don’t mix these up. Labrador, Blackback or Doberman are the cute dog companions, Territory Deviations that restore Sanity.

Lonewolf’s Whisper (also known as Canine Skull) is a completely different Combat Deviation that attacks enemies. One is a friendly base pet, the other is a combat partner. Different roles, different looks, different acquisition methods.
