  • The Otto Auction tasks you with exploring his fractured memories, emphasizing his complex relationship with his father. Everything unfolds across four distinct stages. Each phase demands precision—making it vital to know the exact steps to advance without error.
  • Right from the start, the first stage revolves around filling empty puzzle pieces through dialogue choices. There are three key pieces to complete here, and each choice influences how the memory forms.
  • Stage two challenges you to correctly place three images into a partially completed timeline gathered during the first stage. The order of images matters and sets the stage for identifying inconsistencies later.
  • In the third stage, you’ll hunt for contradictions—spots where memories clash with reality—and swap out false elements with what you know to be true. This part is tense because a wrong fix can throw off the entire narrative and cost you points.
  • The final stage requires you to fill in the last blanks on memory films with items you’ve collected or identified. This step ties everything together, ensuring Otto’s memories are complete and accurate.

Dark Auction plunges you deep into twisted memories, challenging players to separate truth from lies to clinch crucial items at auction. The Otto Auction is particularly memorable—not just for its emotional weight—but because solving its memory puzzles perfectly grants an achievement prized by completionists. Mistakes are allowed, but unless you want a smooth ride or bragging rights, nailing the puzzle takes focus and knowing exactly what to pick.

The Otto Auction tasks you with exploring his fractured memories, emphasizing his complex relationship with his father. Everything unfolds across four distinct stages. Each phase demands precision—making it vital to know the exact steps to advance without error.

During this auction we will be diving into the memories of Otto and looking at the relationship he had with his father. The auction is split into four different stages like the tutorial one, below we shall detail the correct actions to make during each stage without spoiling their context

Right from the start, the first stage revolves around filling empty puzzle pieces through dialogue choices. There are three key pieces to complete here, and each choice influences how the memory forms.

  1. Pile of Sand
  2. File Box
  3. Steak Plate

Any deviation here may confuse the timeline down the line, so these selections deserve careful attention.

  1. Pile of Sand
  2. File Box
  3. Steak Plate

Stage two challenges you to correctly place three images into a partially completed timeline gathered during the first stage. The order of images matters and sets the stage for identifying inconsistencies later.

During the second stage you’ll need to fill in the blanks during the timeline pictured above with the images you obtained during the previous stage. There are three blank spaces during this stage, fill them in with the following information

  1. Slot 4: Image 3 (The dinner table)
  2. Slot 7: Image 1 (The siblings playing together)
  3. Slot 10: Image 2 (Otto’s job)

Getting these placements wrong disrupts your ability to spot contradictions in the timeline during the next phase.

In the third stage, you’ll hunt for contradictions—spots where memories clash with reality—and swap out false elements with what you know to be true. This part is tense because a wrong fix can throw off the entire narrative and cost you points.

Then for the third stage you’ll need to find parts of the timeline you just constructed which contradict reality and use information you have to fix them. During this auction there are four different contradictions in the timeline. Here’s how you’ll fix them.

  1. Substitute the red dot titled Mira’s Photo (on slide 4) with Olympics Poster
  2. Replace Leather Shoes red dot (slide 6) with Worn Out Spikes
  3. Swap Bucket of Water red dot (slide 7) with Dumbbell
  4. Change Diary red dot (last slide) to Bundle of Bank Notes

Each correction clarifies Otto’s true memories and pierces through the fog of falsehoods.

The final stage requires you to fill in the last blanks on memory films with items you’ve collected or identified. This step ties everything together, ensuring Otto’s memories are complete and accurate.

Finally, you’ll need to use the memories you obtained in the previous stage to fill in the blank memories in the final stage of the auction. Here are all the blanks you’ll need to fill

  1. Place the Gold Medal on Film 2
  2. Use the Sports Drink on Film 4
  3. Put the Tire on Film 5
  4. Apply the Military Ration Can on Film 6

Correctly completing this final puzzle will unlock the full memory sequence for you to watch and absorb.

Once these steps are done, the memory film plays out in full, providing critical insight into Otto’s past and rewarding your diligence with narrative payoff. It’s the kind of satisfying moment every Dark Auction player lives for.
