The Early Access build of Hell Maiden pulls players into a harrowing descent through the first two Circles of Hell: Limbo and Lust. Mastering these depths requires more than just raw reflex; it demands a strategic grasp of how to unlock essential Blessings, Signature Weapons, and rare Taboo Arts. While some rewards arrive naturally through play, others remain gated behind specific timed objectives or repeat boss encounters that can easily catch a new arrival off guard.
Below is a breakdown of every unlock currently available within the game’s initial layers.
Hell Maiden Early Access Guide
Circle 1 (Limbo)

Within Circle 1 (Limbo), your focus should be on securing the following:
- Virgil’s Blessing
- Horace’s Blessing
- Homer’s Blessing
- Minos’ Taboo Arts (Boss Spirit Cards)
How to Unlock Virgil’s Blessing

Virgil generally serves as your first reliable ally in the underworld.
Once you finish your second run in Limbo, head back to the Forum. Virgil’s Blessing will be yours automatically, allowing you to equip her Wayfinder signature weapon via the central altar.
Troubleshooting Virgil
If you feel like Virgil hasn’t unlocked despite multiple attempts, check the central altar in the Forum before launching your next run. Finding the Wayfinder waiting there confirms that the character is already active and ready for your next attempt.
How to Unlock Horace’s Blessing
Horace is a bit more elusive and won’t appear immediately on your first attempt.
Complete two initial laps through Limbo, then keep a sharp eye on the mission timer during subsequent runs. A rescue mission becomes available for him exactly at the 3:30 mark.
Successfully finish this quest and return to the Forum to see Horace waiting for you. You can then claim his signature weapon, Carpe Diem, from the central altar.
How to Unlock Homer’s Blessing

Homer remains hidden until you have successfully secured Horace.
Once Horace is established in the Forum, the quest for Homer opens up in future runs. Like the previous rescue, you must reach the 3:30 timer threshold to trigger the encounter.
After completing the mission, return to the Forum to earn Homer’s Blessing. His signature weapon, the Winged Lyric, will subsequently populate the central altar.
How to Unlock Minos’ Taboo Arts

Minos holds a series of Taboo Arts that function similarly to powerful, high-tier Spirit Cards.
You must emerge victorious over Minos three separate times to unlock these. Upon the third defeat, her Spirit Cards are added to the global card pool and may appear in your future runs.
How to Unlock Circle 2 (Lust)
Access to the second layer is gated behind specific accomplishments.
Before Circle 2 (Lust) opens, ensure you have completed the following:
- Rescued Horace.
- Rescued Homer.
- Defeated Minos at least once.
Once these conditions are met, the path to Lust will open, granting access to new rewards.
Inside this Circle, you can unlock:
- Ovid’s Blessing
- Libicocco’s Taboo Arts
- Scarmiglione’s Taboo Arts
How to Unlock Ovid’s Blessing

Unlocking Ovid does not require a perfect run or a boss kill in the second circle.
Simply locate and engage Libicocco and Scarmiglione in combat. Even if you fall during the encounter, reaching the boss stage is enough to fulfill the requirement.
With the battle triggered, Ovid’s quest will be available during your next run.
Return to the Forum to interact with Ovid, then grab her signature weapon, the Codex Amoris, from the central altar.
How to Unlock Libicocco’s and Scarmiglione’s Taboo Arts

Both bosses in the Lust circle possess unique Taboo Arts.
Defeating Libicocco and Scarmiglione three times will add their exclusive Spirit Cards to the random drop pool, allowing them to appear in your future runs.
All Unlock Requirements
| Unlock | Requirement |
|---|---|
| Virgil’s Blessing | Complete two runs in Limbo. |
| Wayfinder | Unlocked with Virgil. |
| Horace’s Blessing | Finish 3:30 rescue quest. |
| Carpe Diem | Unlocked after Horace rescue. |
| Homer’s Blessing | Finish 3:30 rescue quest. |
| Winged Lyric | Unlocked after Homer rescue. |
| Minos’ Taboo Arts | Defeat Minos three times. |
| Circle 2 (Lust) | Rescue Horace/Homer, defeat Minos once. |
| Ovid’s Blessing | Encounter Lust bosses once. |
| Codex Amoris | Unlocked with Ovid. |
| Lust Boss Taboo Arts | Defeat Lust bosses three times. |
My Personal Tips for the Lust Boss Fight
The encounter against Libicocco and Scarmiglione is chaotic, featuring high-speed projectiles that often crowd the screen.
Use these tactics to survive the onslaught:
- Prioritize HP upgrades early to create a buffer against mistakes.
- Use Charm rerolls to hunt for defensive buffs before reaching the boss.
- Stay mobile and avoid camping near the bosses while they are active.
- Favor weapons with high-frequency attacks, as they make it easier to track damage numbers amid the visual effects.
- Accept that the heart-cage projectile is notoriously difficult to dodge; plan to mitigate or tank minor hits if necessary.
These adjustments turn a frantic fight into a methodical win, helping you grind out those three required victories.
How Character Blessings Work
Rescuing a poet grants you their unique Blessing and a signature weapon. Once unlocked, these characters remain accessible at the Forum, allowing you to swap your playstyle before embarking on another run.
Experimenting with different weapon kits is vital, as each one offers distinct mechanics that can drastically change how you handle enemy swarms.
How Timed Quests Work
Remember that rescue missions are strictly tied to the run timer.
If you don’t see the quest trigger at the 3:30 mark, ensure you’ve met the prerequisite conditions. If the timer passes without success, you will need to restart and try again.
What Are Taboo Arts?
Taboo Arts are specialized Spirit Cards earned through persistent boss farming.
They aren’t immediate rewards; you must reach the three-victory milestone for a specific boss to inject their unique cards into your randomized Card Selection pool.
Best Progression Order

- Rescue Horace at 3:30.
- Rescue Homer at 3:30.

Why Isn’t Circle 2 Unlocking?
If the Lust circle remains inaccessible, double-check your progress against this list:
- Is Horace active in the Forum?
- Is Homer active in the Forum?
- Have you secured at least one Minos win?
All three steps must be completed to unlock the next challenge.
