If you are trying to unlock more crafting recipes in Outbound, here is exactly how the blueprint system works.

What Are Blueprints in Outbound?

Blueprints unlock:

  • New tools
  • Building parts
  • Vehicle upgrades
  • Crafting stations
  • Farming equipment
  • Decorations
  • Utility items

Without blueprints, your crafting options stay very limited early on.

How To Unlock Blueprints

The main way to unlock blueprints is by visiting Signal Towers.

These towers are found across every biome and are usually located near:

  • Campsites
  • Roads
  • Landmarks
  • Exploration areas

How To Find Signal Towers

Signal Towers are easy to recognize because they have:

  • A tall tower structure
  • A glowing terminal/computer
  • A download station

The first one appears very early in the tutorial area.

Step-By-Step Blueprint Guide

Find a Signal Tower

Approach the tower and interact with the terminal.

Open Downloads

Select:

Check Downloads

This opens the available blueprint list.

Download the Blueprint

Choose the blueprint you want and press:

Download

Once downloaded, the blueprint becomes permanently unlocked.

Where To Check Your Blueprints

After unlocking a blueprint:

  1. Return to your van
  2. Open the Workbench
  3. Browse your unlocked recipes

Your newly unlocked items will appear automatically.

Early Blueprints You Should Unlock First

Some early blueprints are much more important than others.

BlueprintWhy It Matters
WrenchRepairs gates and structures
Build HammerUnlocks building mode
AxeHarvest larger wood logs
PickaxeMine rocks and ores
SickleHarvest crops and plants
Homing BootsFaster travel back to vehicle

Do Blueprint Towers Refresh?

Yes.

Signal Towers can reactivate later, allowing you to unlock:

  • New recipes
  • Decorations
  • Advanced workstations
  • Extra building pieces

Revisiting old towers is very important.

Do Blueprints Cost Anything?

Early blueprints are usually free.

Later downloads require:

  • Tokens
  • Coupons/Vouchers

You can get these from:

  • Recycling litter
  • Exploring
  • Looting containers
  • Visiting campsites

Best Blueprint Priorities For Beginners

If you are starting fresh, unlock tools first.

Recommended Unlock Order

PriorityBlueprint
1Axe
2Pickaxe
3Build Hammer
4Sickle

These improve resource gathering dramatically.

Blueprint Tips

Carry Tokens With You

Always keep tokens in your backpack while exploring because you may discover a new tower unexpectedly.

Revisit Towers Often

Previously completed towers can become active again later.

Farm Scrap Metal Constantly

Most crafted tools require large amounts of scrap metal.

Explore Every Campsite

Many towers are located close to campsites and Points of Interest.

Signal Tower Blueprints vs Cap ‘n Snap Blueprints

There are actually two different blueprint systems in Outbound.

Signal Tower Blueprints

These unlock:

  • Tools
  • Crafting
  • Vehicle upgrades
  • Building pieces

Cap ‘n Snap Blueprints

These unlock:

  • Decorations
  • Cosmetic collectibles
  • Vehicle accessories

Cap ‘n Snap blueprints come from gacha vending machines using bottle caps.

Can You Unlock Every Blueprint?

Yes.

Nothing is permanently missable, and you can eventually unlock all recipes if you continue exploring every biome and revisiting towers.

Signal Towers are one of the most important things to look for in Outbound. Unlocking better blueprints gives you access to stronger tools, better crafting stations, improved farming, and much larger vehicle builds.

If you want smooth progression:

  • Explore carefully
  • Visit every tower
  • Collect lots of tokens
  • Prioritize tool blueprints first

Doing this will make the early and mid game much easier.
