At the Nordic Fjords stage, you’ll build your first Moon Jelly exhibit, kickstarting your journey into aquatic life management. After that, placing the Golden Trevally Shoals and turtles introduces you to aquarium setups. Don’t miss hiring a vet tasked with caring for a sick Manatee, a critical step to mastering animal health this early on.
Your first task here is placing a Moon Jelly exhibit. Build the exhibit and adopt the jellyfish. Next, you will learn how to build an Aquarium. Place the Golden Trevally Shoals and then the turtles. You will then hire a vet to take care of the sick Manatee.
How To Build An Aquarium
Head to the barrier tab to select an aquarium module. When you place the aquarium staff gate adjacent to the barrier, the enclosure automatically fills with water—streamlining what could be a fiddly setup process.
To get your aquarium ready for specific species, use a filtration network. Attach a water filter to the aquarium and set it to fresh, brackish, or saltwater, depending on your animals’ needs. Each filter only supports one water type, so connecting multiple aquariums requires careful planning. Remember to power the filters; without power, water quality suffers.
Temperature control is another vital aspect. Select the aquarium and adjust its temperature to fit the species you’re housing. Species with overlapping habitat requirements can share a single tank, which helps save space and resources.
South East Wales – Bronze
In the South East Wales chapter, adopting a Goodfellow’s Tree Kangaroo is on the agenda. Transfer it immediately to quarantine to prevent disease from spreading in your zoo. Then, build the habitat complete with a melon feeder and fountain to keep your kangaroo happy.
Placement of donation bins is key for maximizing guest contributions. Position these near popular viewing areas since guests donate more when they’re engaged by good animal views.
Guest education becomes essential here. Install education boards and speakers, focusing on topics like nocturnal behaviour and mammal evolution. Place these in busy spots to maximize impact, and tweak speaker ranges to increase how many guests they reach.
If animals escape, as happened with the otters, act fast. Select their habitat, box all the animals from the Animal tab, summon a mechanic to repair the damage, and then secure the habitat to prevent further escapes.
Build a drink shop and benches to give guests places to rest and hydrate, which greatly improves their energy and thirst stats. Raising ticket prices once guests are happier helps you turn better profits.
Don’t overlook training your caretakers. Increasing their experience stars improves zoo cleanliness and animal welfare. Place bins strategically around the zoo to keep trash under control.
Work toward raising your zoo reputation by focusing on guest education ratings, aiming for at least 2.5 stars. More educational boards in busy areas will also help. At the same time, reducing guest thirst and improving animal care boosts your park’s overall status.
How To Increase Zoo Reputation
Several factors influence your zoo’s reputation. Keeping your animals healthy is foundational, but sustainability and guest satisfaction weigh heavily too. Pay attention to guest complaints and quickly address their needs to maintain a positive image.
Regularly monitoring your guests ensures they remain happy during their visit, which directly improves your zoo’s reputation. Making sure facilities meet guest expectations is key to long-term success.
Tips
Spread out shops and guest services evenly. Having amenities close at hand decreases guest frustration and encourages spending.
New England – Bronze
Strategically place ten donation bins across popular viewing points to generate a modest but steady seasonal donation income of $5,000. Complement this with a food shop, a gift shop, and a drink shop to diversify guest spending options.
Marketing campaigns can boost the appeal of your featured animals. For example, promote the Great Flamingo via the marketing tab in the finances section. This temporarily increases visitor interest and guest turnout.
Keep your collection diverse with at least eight species by adopting animals rather than purchasing to save costs. Consider cohabitation options for habitats, like housing mountain hares alongside meerkats where compatible.
Mix species cleverly to maximize space—for instance, pair shoebills with flamingos or red deer with zebras. These combinations enrich guest interest and increase attendance. Also, focus on clearing debts by paying off loans in a timely manner.
Scottish Highlands – Bronze
This stage introduces a second wildlife reserve challenge. Build research outposts and place observation platforms that require careful spacing with minimal range overlap to maximize coverage.
Introduce lynx by setting up a Montane Forest ecosystem. Adjust ecosystem sizes accordingly, with the left mountain area serving as an ideal spot to develop this biome.
Shift lynx to release groups and set them free into the reserve carefully. Simultaneously, work on establishing a Moorland Ecosystem by repairing and expanding the existing habitat.
Return to Wales to create release groups for Long-eared owls (mating pair) and a mixed group of hares. Before releasing owls, be sure to build a nest to encourage natural behaviour and breeding success.
Thanks for exploring Chapter 2 strategies in Planet Zoo 2. The journey continues with more challenges and tips to develop your ultimate zoo experience.
