Risk of Rain 2’s Prime Meridian is an electrifying finale to the Path of the Colossus. The stage’s threatening lightning strikes and deadly boss, False Son, push players to their limits as they strive to survive and prevail.
Prime Meridian blends serene floating platforms with hazardous skies, culminating in a fierce showdown. Understanding how Lunar Ruin debuffs and Aurelionite Geodes work makes the difference between a clean run and frustrating wipeouts.
Besides navigating this intense environment, recent patches impact how you’ll approach False Son’s fight, making preparation essential.
What Is Prime Meridian?
Prime Meridian marks the final stage added in the Seekers of the Storm expansion. You’ll cross precarious floating platforms, dodge punishing lightning strikes, and find Aurelionite Geodes offering critical defensive bonuses—all leading up to the boss arena where False Son awaits.
Your goal is to reach False Son, but don’t rush blindly. Scattered items and geodes provide opportunities to bolster your survivability. Learning the environment’s dangers is key before the final fight.
How to Survive Prime Meridian in ROR2
The stage’s standout hazard is the lightning. Getting struck applies the Lunar Ruin debuff which worsens damage taken and cuts healing effectiveness every time it stacks.
Each Lunar Ruin stack increases damage you take by 10% and reduces any healing by 20%, making fights snowball against you fast. Keeping tabs on debuff stacks and your health is crucial to avoid getting overwhelmed.
After the October 8, 2026 patch, lightning clearly damages a cylindrical area. Don’t fall for the trap of hiding on raised platforms—you’re still vulnerable regardless of elevation.
Use Aurelionite Geodes
Aurelionite Geodes are your lifelines scattered across Prime Meridian. Activating one creates an area that clears all debuffs and, after a short delay, grants a temporary barrier equal to half of your max health.
Simply step into the protective zone once it appears to receive the shield. These are perfect for shedding Lunar Ruin and bracing for tougher encounters ahead.
Remember, geodes do not nullify the ongoing lightning storm; they don’t stop the sky from attacking. Their strength lies in cleansing your stacks and providing a buffer against enemy hits—use them strategically.
Balance Exploration and Survival
Prime Meridian offers tempting loot and interactables, but overextending to snag every item can doom you. Prioritize survival over greed when your Lunar Ruin stacks rise or your health dips dangerously low.
Assess your loadout and whether you can handle nearby foes before plunging deeper. Mobility can be a lifesaver navigating the floating arenas, but the best approach adapts to the Survivor and build you’re running.
This stage challenges you to find a careful balance—risk too much exploring, and you’ll lose your edge for False Son’s fight.
False Son Boss Fight: How to Prepare
Before stepping into False Son’s domain, check your health and remove any lingering Lunar Ruin stacks with a geode nearby. Entering the fight uncluttered and shielded greatly improves your odds.
Watch False Son’s attack cues closely. There’s no guaranteed win from raw damage alone; mastering his timing and dodging smartly matters more. The fight rewards patience and keen observation.
Keep Your Distance
Maintain mid-range spacing. If you’re too close, False Son’s club slam will punish you; too far, and his dash attack becomes a threat. Mid-range balances offense and safety, letting you react to his moves effectively.
Cover is Important
False Son summons Stone Golems and wields a powerful laser attack. Always know your nearest pillar for shelter—the laser attack can be completely blocked if you hide behind cover in time.
Pro tip: Position yourself with False Son between you and a pillar. This setup lets the pillar absorb the laser while you continue to dish out damage safely.
Save Your Geodes
When False Son reaches his final phase, he uses an ability that locks out all your skill usage. The only way out is cracking an Aurelionite Geode to clear the debuff. Keep at least one or two geodes reserved through the fight. As soon as you see him raise his club, start heading for a geode to cleanse yourself immediately.
False Son Changes in the October 8, 2026 Patch
The recent patch introduced key fixes impacting False Son’s mechanics and the boss arena’s behavior.
Dash Behavior
False Son’s Phase 1 dash no longer overshoots targets if he has bonus movement speed. Instead of hidden invulnerability during the dash, he now gains a minor armor buff.
Despite these tweaks, the dash remains a threat. Always keep distance in Phase 1 and use mobility skills to dodge sideways when you spot the dash starting.
Club Slam
The club slam received adjustments: less aggressive tracking, improved hitbox alignment, and damage fall-off on the area explosion. This makes the slam’s effects more predictable but still dangerous.
Don’t underestimate the slam post-patch—react carefully to its animation to stay safe.
Boss Arena Platforms
Technical issues with the boss arena have been fixed, including platform behavior during the intro and falling speeds between phases. These don’t ease the fight but prevent distracting glitches.
Stay alert and don’t let minor technical adjustments lull you into complacency.
Does Beating False Son Mean Beating the Game?
If you opt to continue through the Destination Portal without also defeating Mithrix or Voidling, you’ll only earn False Son’s skin, not the Monsoon one. So for skin hunters, finish at the shrine.
