Knights form the heart of your team in Sovereign Tower, but understanding their hidden strengths and quirks can be a puzzle in itself. Their secret attributes quietly shape how well they perform on quests, making it crucial to know who excels where before sending them out. This knowledge can turn a frustrating trial-and-error process into smooth, strategic gameplay that truly feels rewarding.

How to read a knight

The six statistics

Each knight in Sovereign Tower is defined by six core stats evaluated on a scale from 0 to 15. These values shape their effectiveness across different tasks and quests.

Strength Raw physical power and damage potential
Agility Speed, dexterity, and maneuverability
Charisma Social skills and persuasion ability
Magic Affinity for arcane and mystical arts
Wits Intelligence, perception, and reasoning
Luck Fortuitous outcomes and chance

During quests, each required stat’s contribution is calculated using the formula: (knight’s stat minus quest requirement) × 0.66. This value is divided among the party members and adjusted based on the difficulty of the quest’s demands. Slightly exceeding requirements grants incremental success bonuses, while falling short yields penalties.

Quest results are measured by score thresholds: +10 means critical success with double rewards; +5 great success for 1.5 times rewards; 0 success; below zero indicates failures with increasing severity down to critical failures at -10. Building a party whose stats match or exceed quest demands is essential.

All stat totals used for quest scoring are clamped within the 0-15 range, including bonuses gained from equipment. This ensures balanced progression and requires focused stat development.

Level and XP

Your knights start at their base levels and can advance up to level 15. Each time a knight levels up, you earn a point to invest in any stat under the 15 cap, allowing fine-tuning of their skillset.

Experience points accumulate through quest performance—failures yield none, success rewards base XP, and higher ranks multiply returns. Additionally, sending knights to train instead of questing grants steady XP gains.

Affinity

Affinity reflects a knight’s emotional bond with your leadership, ranging from -10 to +10, starting neutrally at zero. Positive interactions like quest assignments they enjoy, favorite meals (+1.5 boost), and alignment with your sovereign’s style raise affinity. Negative experiences lower it.

If affinity dips below a knight’s demission threshold (commonly -7), they request resignation and leave your service. Exceptions include Alwena and Ari, who effectively never quit due to an extremely low threshold of -1500.

High affinity unlocks private conversations that reveal rich backstory and deepen your connection to each knight, making affinity management key to story progression.

Meals

Feeding knights dishes they love delivers both immediate affinity boosts (+1.5) and a modest +0.5 bonus to quest scores. The game’s six dishes are:

  • Galette-Saucisse
  • Croque-Monsieur
  • Préfou
  • Crêpe
  • Brizhian Butter Shortbread
  • Lion’s Taco

Discovering a knight’s favorite food early grants a small but meaningful edge in quest success and relationship growth.

Known vs. hidden attributes

Knights present two layers of information:

  • Known attributes are visible as soon as the knight joins your roster.
  • Hidden stats influence calculations from the start but remain a mystery until unveiled through conversations, quests, or narrative events.

Within the hidden attributes, some are specifically flagged as Intendant rumors. These can be uncovered by Alwena once she joins your staff, revealing valuable insights one by one, but only for traits not yet discovered.

The preference system

The preference system

Knights express likes and dislikes that influence their affinity but do not affect quest success directly. Assigning them quests with their liked types or conditions raises affinity, while disliked elements diminish it.

These effects stack, so a quest perfectly tailored to a knight’s preferences—including multiple liked conditions—can generate affinity boosts of nearly +4. This system rewards careful party composition and quest selection.

Quest types

Sovereign Tower quests come in many flavors including Hunt, Assassination, Relic Recovery, Diplomacy, Scouting, Confrontation, Duel, Competition, Research, Rescue, and Knight Quest. Matching knights to quests they favor amplifies affinity gains.

Quest conditions

Various conditions can modify quests, impacting affinity adjustments. These include:

  • Flying Creature, Water, Cute Creature, Climbing, Woods, Crowd, Cave, Ghost, Track, Big Creature, Magic Ritual, Heavy Lifting, Investigation, Help, At Night, Musical, Unethical, Dragon, Need Flying Mount, Intimidation, People Involved

Sovereign tags

Your leadership style leaves a mark on your knights through five archetypes: Tyrannic, Wise, Kind, Audacious, and Omniscient. Knights approve or disapprove of your choices, influencing affinity accordingly. Aligning your decisions with a knight’s favored archetype can keep them loyal and motivated.
