Equipments and Tips

During Dark Hours, danger lurks around every corner, transforming your mission into a tense struggle for survival. Your objective centers on locating elusive key sets that unlock the escape route, demanding cautious navigation and smart use of equipment.

Basic Equipment

Defensive Tools

Note:

All equipment is one-time use. Once bought, items are stored in your personal locker in the van’s back where you can access and equip them alongside the default starter gear. Every map begins with 2 crowbars, 1 hacking device, 1 adrenaline shot, and 2 walkie-talkies already provided.

Tips and Information

Fuses

When inserting fuses into the vault, the third fuse is crucial as it unlocks special abilities for certain entities:

  • Hidebehind gains increased speed and eliminates cooldown between hunts.
  • Banshee introduces a dash attack capable of knocking down players.

Exhibit

When navigating the exhibit, be cautious to avoid setting off security lasers. Successfully maneuvering through the laser maze allows you to retrieve a key from a statue. Triggering any security line will lock this key away until later, alerting the ghost and potentially prolonging your lockout.

Overall Score

Your payout depends heavily on your heist score, which reflects your contributions during objectives. Staying actively involved in completing the mission’s main tasks maximizes the cash cut you receive.

Streaks

Streaks are preset from 1 to 4 in the lobby by the host. Each successfully completed stage adds 10% more to your cash cut, climbing to a maximum 50% bonus at the final stage of the streak run.

Hiding

Your instinct might be to run when danger approaches, but using lockers and hiding under tables often proves safer. If your entire team is downed, the game effectively ends, emphasizing the importance of cautious stealth tactics.

Movement tips

  • Crouching reduces noise compared to walking or sprinting, essential when facing noise-sensitive entities that hunt by sound.
  • Sprinting followed by crouching initiates a slide, a handy technique for quickly traversing rooms or slipping into hiding spots.
  • Avoid draining your stamina completely while sprinting, since it increases your recovery time and causes audible panting that alerts enemies.
  • Inventory weight directly affects stamina; for every 9kg carried, you lose one stamina bar, starting with 5 bars total and capping at 4 lost bars at 35kg or more.

Here’s how it works:

  • You start with 5 stamina bars.
  • For every 9kg of weight you carry, you lose 1 stamina bar.
  • At 35kg, you will lose a 4th stamina bar, but will not lose any more stamina bars no matter how much more weight you carry beyond this.

Equipment is typically single-use. The van initially supplies you with two crowbars, two hacking devices, and two walkie-talkies. Additional equipment found on the map can serve as supplementary starter items or vital defensive tools such as earmuffs or cameras.

So far, it seems all equipment is single use. The van gives you two crowbars, two hacking devices, and two walkies at the start with a chance of spawning equipment in the map. These items can be additional starter items or defensive materials such as earmuffs or cameras.
