NPC quests are one of the best ways to earn extra rewards in Storage Hunters Open World. While many quests reward Gems and other useful items, some are repeatable, making them a great long-term source of rewards as you progress through different areas.
This guide covers every known NPC quest location, what each NPC asks for, and how to complete their quests.
Junkyard – Billy
Location: Junkyard
Billy offers a repeatable quest focused on completing Junkyard auctions.
Quest Objective
- Complete Junkyard auctions.
- Collect the required quest items from storage units.
- Return to Billy for your rewards.
Since the quest repeats, you can continue farming it for additional Gems over time.
Gas Station NPC
Location: Gas Station, just outside Junkyard
This NPC offers two quests.
Quest 1
- Collect the required Junkyard items.
- Return to the NPC for your reward.
Quest 2
- Collect the requested items from Back Alley.
- Return to complete the second quest.
After finishing both quests, there are currently no additional quests from this NPC.
Basketball NPC
Location: Near Back Alley
This NPC asks you to collect 6 Basketballs.
Requirements
- Find Basketballs in Junkyard.
- Basketballs are Uncommon items.
This quest can take a while because Basketballs may not appear frequently.
Helpful Tip
Some players lower their Luck stat while farming because it may increase the chance of finding Uncommon items instead of rarer loot.
Basketball Hoop NPC
Location: Near the Basketball NPC
This NPC requests Basketball Hoops instead of Basketballs.
Requirements
- Collect Basketball Hoops from Back Alley.
- Basketball Hoops are classified as Rare items.
Compared to the Basketball quest, this one is generally easier to finish.
Sal
Location: Back Alley
Sal provides another repeatable auction quest.
Objective
- Complete Back Alley auctions.
- Gather the requested items.
- Return for rewards.
Like Billy, Sal’s quest is designed for repeated completion while farming the area.
Black Market Dealer
Location: Hidden behind the Back Alley area
The Black Market Dealer specializes in weapon collection quests.
Early Quests
- Collect weapons found in Back Alley.
- Turn them in for rewards.
Later Quests
As you progress, the NPC begins requesting Legendary weapons.
Although these sound difficult, they become much easier once you’ve spent enough time farming Back Alley.
Tad
Location: Farmyard
Tad offers another repeatable quest based on completing Farmyard auctions.
Simply continue clearing storage auctions in the Farmyard area to make progress before returning for rewards.
Fishing NPC
Location: Dock near the Farmyard pond
This NPC focuses entirely on fishing.
First Quest
- Catch 100 fishing items.
Second Quest
- Catch items worth a total of $50,000.
These quests take longer than most NPC quests but reward additional Gems once completed.
How to Get Fishing Rods
Fishing Rods are obtained through Farmyard auctions.
There are three rarities available:
- Rare Fishing Rod
- Epic Fishing Rod
- Legendary Fishing Rod
Higher rarity rods allow you to catch more items while fishing, making the fishing quests easier to complete.
Steve
Location: Shipyard
Steve provides one of the longest repeatable quest chains currently available.
Objectives
Complete Shipyard auctions.
The requirements gradually increase as you progress.
For example:
- Complete 90 Small Container auctions.
- Then complete 15 Large Container auctions.
- Additional objectives continue afterward.
Steve’s questline is excellent for players who spend most of their time farming Shipyard.
Repeatable NPC Quests
Several NPCs currently offer repeatable quests:
- Billy (Junkyard)
- Sal (Back Alley)
- Tad (Farmyard)
- Steve (Shipyard)
- Black Market Dealer (weapon collection)
These quests are ideal for earning Gems while continuing your normal auction farming.
Best NPC Quests for Gems
If your goal is collecting Gems efficiently, prioritize:
- Billy
- Sal
- Tad
- Steve
- Fishing NPC (one-time quest chain)
The repeatable quests provide a steady source of rewards while you naturally progress through each region.
NPC Quest Tips
To complete quests faster:
- Keep duplicate quest items instead of selling them immediately.
- Focus on farming the area tied to your active quest.
- Don’t ignore repeatable quests—they provide valuable long-term rewards.
- Save Legendary weapons if you’re progressing through the Black Market questline.
- Upgrade your Fishing Rod before tackling the fishing quests to make them much easier.
Completing NPC quests alongside your regular storage auctions is one of the best ways to earn extra Gems and make steady progress in Storage Hunters Open World.
