Copper is one of the most important early resources in Windrose because it unlocks your first real upgrades, including better tools, weapons, and key progression systems. If you don’t farm and manage it properly, progression slows down a lot.
This guide explains exactly how to get Copper efficiently, process it, and use it the smart way.
Step 1 — Craft a Stone Pickaxe
Before you can mine anything, you need a Stone Pickaxe.
Recipe:
- 3 Wood
- 3 Stone
Craft it at the Workbench and you’re ready to start mining.
Step 2 — Find Copper Deposit Caves
Copper is not found randomly in the open world. You need to go into Copper Deposit Caves, which are located in the Coastal Jungle.
You can identify them by:
- A pickaxe icon on the map
- A cave entrance that looks like a crack in a rock wall
Inside the cave, visibility is low, so it helps to bring:
- An oil lamp
- Or materials to place torches
Step 3 — Mine Copper Ore Efficiently
Once inside, you’ll find Copper Ore nodes.
To farm efficiently:
- Hit nodes until they break
- Empty your inventory before entering
- Drop excess stone if your inventory fills up
Copper stacks up quickly, so inventory management is important if you want longer farming runs.
Step 4 — Convert Ore into Copper Ingots
Raw ore is not useful until it’s processed into ingots.
You need two structures:
Charcoal Kiln
- 20 Clay + 20 Wood
- Converts wood into charcoal
Smelting Furnace
- 15 Clay + 30 Stone
- Converts ore into ingots
Process:
- Turn Wood into Charcoal
- Combine 6 Copper Ore + Charcoal
- Get Copper Ingots
Since both processes take time, building multiple kilns and furnaces speeds things up significantly.
Best Way to Speed Up Production
Instead of waiting on one furnace:
- Build 2–3 kilns and furnaces
- Process materials in parallel
- Always keep them running
This saves a lot of downtime.
What Copper Is Used For (Important Priorities)

Smart Resource Management Tips
If you want to progress faster:
- Do not waste Copper on unnecessary items early
- Prioritize tools before weapons
- Always keep furnaces running in the background
- Farm in bulk instead of small trips
Copper is the resource that shifts the game from basic survival into real progression. Once you start producing it efficiently and spending it wisely, everything becomes smoother — combat, gathering, and exploration.
