If you’re jumping into Season 6 of Last War: Survival Game, altars are one of the most misunderstood mechanics early on. They look simple, but if your alliance plays them wrong, you waste time, troops, and opportunities.
Here’s how they really work and how to use them efficiently.
Last War Altar Capture Guide (Season 6)
Altars are not like:
- Cities
- Strongholds
- Battlegrounds
They behave more like trade posts with PvP pressure.
Key difference:
- You do NOT need connected territory
- You can attack or capture any altar anywhere on the map
That alone makes them extremely flexible and strategic.
When Altars Unlock
- Week 3 of the season
- Level 1 & Level 2 altars unlock first
- Later:
- Level 3 & Level 4 altars open
What Each Altar Gives
Level 1 Altars
- Cobra Barrier
- Defensive utility
Level 2 Altars
- Night Army
- Offensive buffs
Higher levels give stronger alliance-wide advantages, so controlling more altars = stronger faction overall.
Capture Mechanics (Most Important Part)
This is where most players mess up.
1. You Only Need ONE Team
- Sending multiple marches is useless
- Only one unit actually holds the altar
- Others get bounced back
Correct play:
- Send one strong team
- Reinforce if needed
2. Capture Time is Fixed
- Always 20 minutes
- Doesn’t matter if:
- 1 player is inside
- 20 players are inside
So stacking players does not speed anything up
3. You Can Attack From Outside
You don’t need to stand in the “mud” or occupy surrounding tiles.
- Just target the altar directly
- Knock enemies out from range
This makes fights cleaner and more frequent.
Early Strategy (First Capture Phase)
When altars first open:
- There are a lot of them
- Map is spread out
- Low contest initially
What you should do:
- Grab a free altar immediately
- Don’t overfight early
- Secure easy buffs first
Mid-Phase Strategy (After Initial Captures)
This is when things get interesting.
Option 1: Expand
- Capture additional free altars
- Spread your alliance out
Option 2: Contest
- Attack enemy captures
- Delay their progress
Smart PvP Tactics
1. Distraction Play
If everyone is fighting over one altar:
- Send a team to a different altar
- Start a free 20-minute capture
This is one of the easiest wins in Season 6.
2. Harassment Strategy
Stronger players (or “whales”) can:
- Continuously hit enemy altars
- Knock players out repeatedly
- Force troop losses
Goal:
- Slow enemy progression
- Drain their resources
3. Denial Play
You don’t always need to win the altar.
Sometimes:
- Just prevent enemy capture
- Reset their timer repeatedly
That alone can swing control of the map.
