Maluku Islands – Bronze
This stage asks you to have at least six aquatic species and six shoals in your zoo, all housed within the existing aquarium. Some great shoals to consider are Golden Trevally, Bluespine Unicornfish, Threespot Damselfish, and Indian Ocean Oriental Sweetlips.
For larger aquatic animals, the Javanese Cownose Ray is a solid choice. Aim to ramp up animal welfare to 100 percent here. Advancing research on the Hawksbill Turtle to level four unlocks important benefits. As you add more species, guest counts and profits naturally climb.
Social welfare for Cownose Rays improves by purchasing multiple individuals, so stock accordingly. Adding more native plants will help too. Most fish demand enrichment items or slight terrain tweaks to feel at home. If you find certain species are incompatible, it’s better to sell one rather than compromise welfare.
Your next big aquarium addition is the Ocean Sunfish. To boost its welfare, remove predatory fish like sharks from its habitat — these cause unnecessary stress.
Channel Islands – Bronze
Starting empty, this zoo requires you to establish everything: build a trade center to import animals, a keeper hut for staff, and power sources for your facilities. A complete functional zoo also demands a quarantine, staff room, vet surgery, and a research center.
Paths must connect all these buildings for smooth operation. Sometimes flattening terrain a bit will make placement easier. Since you start without staff, recruit your keepers to keep the zoo running.
You’ll need to home at least one species each from avian, aquatic, and terrestrial habitats. For aquatics, pick an aquarium from the barrier tab and install a staff gate. If you’re unsure how to build other types of barriers, revisit earlier walkthroughs focusing on barriers.
Opt for animals that are both appealing and cost-effective given your tight starting budget. Binturong works well for terrestrial exhibits. Also, acquire four terrestrial enclosures to expand your options.
The Ocellated Eagle Ray is a recommended aquatic species. For avian exhibits, the Secretarybird fits nicely into your emerging zoo.
Raise guest happiness to about 75% by ensuring all basic amenities are available: food stalls, drink stands, restrooms, benches, and places to rest are essential. Don’t neglect educational facilities either — they help visitors learn about your animals.
Boost your zoo’s reputation to secure a four-star rating in inspections. This hinges on continually improving animal welfare and overall guest experience.

Begin by clearing out all plastic and metal debris. Build necessary buildings, then focus on creating a habitat housing three species together. Herbivores that cohabit peacefully—like Nyala, Plains Zebra, and Mountain Hare—make good candidates.
Customize terrain for each species: short grass for Nyala, reduced waterlogging for zebras, and additional plants for hares. Enrichment items and shelters will boost their welfare scores.
Next, build an aviary for the Great Hornbill, including a shelter. Social welfare improves by adding another hornbill. Use compacted soil to fix waterlogging and address other terrain concerns, placing enrichment and water sources appropriately.
Introduce more appealing species to attract visitors. Add a Komodo Dragon enclosure with swimming areas and shelters. Achieve 100% welfare by troubleshooting specific needs.
To make the Komodo Dragon thrive, research its specific thriving requirements. Use native plants and suitable soil, add viewing windows, and run marketing campaigns to increase appeal. Deepen swimming areas to meet its aquatic needs.
Upgrade food quality to grade 2 via the management tab by selecting the food option and clicking the stars. This small step has a noticeable impact on animal health and happiness.
Chapter 4 in Planet Zoo 2 demands patience and attention to detail, but taking the time to craft habitats carefully pays off with happy animals and satisfied guests. Stay tuned for updates as we continue exploring this sprawling simulation.
