The Adventures of Elliot invites players to traverse a mystical world filled with magic and hidden secrets, but one key ability often slips past unnoticed: the power to dive underwater. Curious explorers will find this skill crucial for reaching previously inaccessible areas and unlocking treasures, despite it not being mandatory to complete the game. Reaching this secret opens up a new layer of adventure few stumble upon early on.
How to Dive Underwater in The Adventures of Elliot
To gain the ability to dive underwater, you need to secure the Diving Manual, which is a key item hidden in a unique spot called the Water Ruins. This dungeon is perched on an island right in the middle of the expansive lake dominating the world map. It’s an easily overlooked spot, but essential for unlocking underwater exploration.
Trying to navigate the Water Ruins at most points in time quickly results in a dead end because access to diving is required to advance deeper. Players who attempt to rush in without the skill will find themselves stuck, highlighting the need to tackle this challenge during a very specific period.
The exception comes during The Age of Reconstruction. Here, you can manipulate water levels throughout the dungeon, allowing progression without the dive skill. Midway through, you’ll face the Frauki Capo boss. Defeating him grants access to the chest that holds the coveted Diving Manual, the key to unlocking underwater movement.
With the Diving Manual in hand, diving becomes as simple as holding down the triangle button whenever Elliot is swimming near a log or submerged area. This new ability not only opens new exploration routes but also allows you to complete the Water Ruins across all time periods, significantly broadening your adventure scope.
