In The Sinking City 2, players encounter numerous side investigations that offer a break from the main storyline. One particularly memorable challenge happens early on, centered around a mysterious obelisk standing just outside a church. This puzzle can catch players off guard, but understanding its mechanics is key to progressing and unlocking valuable rewards.
Church Trident Puzzle Solution
Before you can interact with the obelisk, you’ll need to find the Star Key, which lies on a corpse next to the church’s Floodgate. With this key in hand, head to the church’s second floor where you’ll unlock a door. Inside, you’ll discover the crucial Trident needed to engage with the obelisk.
Determining the correct symbol sequence for the obelisk is done by piecing together clues found in several notes around the church: “The First Vision“, “Notes of the Path“, and “A Call Upon Believers“. These documents reveal the order you must set the symbols from top to bottom.
- The symbol of a snake in a circle
- The three-pronged trident-like symbol
- The arrow-like symbol
- The symbol resembling two half-circles
Once you’ve input the symbols correctly, step back immediately—the obelisk will release electric shocks. It will shock three times; after that, sprint back and grab the trident quickly during the intervals between the lightning strikes.
With the trident secured, return to the church’s second floor and place it on the altar where you initially found it. Doing so completes the puzzle and pushes the investigation forward, guiding you closer to your reward.
