Starting your adventure in Farever can feel overwhelming at first. The game introduces a huge amount of systems early on, including crafting, weapon skills, mounts, exploration rewards, runes, professions, and fast travel. Many players rush through areas without understanding how important exploration and progression actually are, which often leads to wasted resources and slower leveling later.

The good news is that Farever rewards players who take their time and learn its systems properly. Small choices early on, like salvaging gear instead of throwing it away, unlocking Codex rewards, crafting healing potions, or upgrading the correct weapon, can massively improve your experience. This guide covers the most important beginner tips, combat advice, exploration mechanics, and progression systems so you can start your journey the right way.

Claim Your Free Mount Immediately

One of the very first things you should do is claim the free mount available through the in-game shop during Early Access. Open the menu, head into the shop, claim the free rewards, then equip the mount through the Collections menu.

Movement is extremely important in Farever because exploration is a huge part of progression. Having a mount early saves a massive amount of travel time and makes reaching objectives much easier. The transition between gliding and mounting is also very smooth, which makes traveling around the world feel much faster.

If you miss the free mount, you can later purchase one from the mount merchant in Primevalley for 2000 gold.

Fully Explore Every Area Before Moving On

A mistake many new players make is rushing through zones too quickly. Farever heavily rewards players who completely clear an area before moving forward.

Activities such as:

  • Chests
  • Mini-bosses
  • Elite enemies
  • Races
  • Hidden NPCs
  • Exploration objectives

all give valuable rewards including XP, gold, resources, and equipment.

The important thing to remember is that rewards scale based on the zone itself, not your character level. A chest from the starting zone will always give low-level gear even if you open it at max level later. Because of this, it is much more efficient to fully clear zones while they are still relevant to your level.

You can also check enemy colors for level recommendations:

  • Soft yellow enemies are around your level
  • Green enemies are lower level
  • Darker green enemies are much weaker

If most enemies are green, you are probably overleveled for that area already.

Gain Height Whenever Possible

Vertical exploration is extremely rewarding in Farever. Climbing towers, trees, floating islands, cliffs, and tall ruins often leads to hidden rewards or reveals important locations nearby.

Getting high ground also helps you:

  • Spot treasure chests
  • Find hidden monsters
  • Locate resources
  • Discover NPCs
  • Plan routes for gliding

A lot of hidden content is easy to miss if you only travel along the ground.

Understand Obelisks and Fast Travel Early

Obelisks are one of the most important systems in the game. Whenever you discover a new one, interact with it immediately.

Obelisks serve several purposes:

  • Unlock fast travel
  • Act as respawn points
  • Recharge healing flasks
  • Set your Recall Stone destination

Your Recall Stone, called the Sparkstone, lets you instantly teleport back to your selected Obelisk. This becomes incredibly useful later when farming materials or returning after difficult fights.

Fast travel between discovered Obelisks is not instant teleportation. Instead, your character travels automatically through the sky, which still saves huge amounts of time.

Buy Gathering Tools Early

As soon as you reach Primevalley, buy gathering tools from the village merchant. This allows you to collect resources immediately during exploration.

Gathering materials becomes important later for:

  • Crafting
  • Consumables
  • Profession leveling
  • Selling for gold

Even if you do not plan to focus heavily on crafting, gathering resources while exploring is always worth doing because materials sell for decent money.

Inventory Space Becomes a Problem Fast

Inventory management becomes important surprisingly early. You will constantly collect weapons, crafting materials, resources, consumables, and gear.

To avoid running out of space:

  • Buy pouches from merchants
  • Equip inventory bags immediately
  • Store important items in the bank
  • Salvage useless gear instead of keeping everything

The bank is shared between merchants but remains character-specific.

Good inventory management saves a lot of frustration later.

Salvage Gear Instead of Throwing It Away

Never discard unwanted equipment. Instead, recycle it at the Spark Recycler found in forward camps.

Recycling gives useful materials for:

  • Weapon upgrades
  • Crafting
  • Selling for gold

This becomes one of the main sources of upgrade materials later in the game. Many new players accidentally waste valuable progression by simply deleting old gear.

Weapon Skills Are Extremely Important

Half of your combat abilities come directly from the weapon you equip. Different weapons completely change your playstyle and available skills.

For example:

  • Swords focus on melee combat
  • Fire scepters grant ranged fire abilities
  • Healing staves provide support skills
  • Two-handed weapons often grant multiple active abilities

Every weapon skill can also be upgraded using weapon XP. Whenever you see the green plus icon on a weapon, spend those upgrade points immediately to improve the weapon’s abilities.

Weapon upgrades often unlock additional effects and synergies that make combat much smoother.

Save Upgrade Materials for Better Weapons

While upgrading weapons is important, early upgrades provide fairly small stat increases.

Because upgrade materials become more valuable later, it is usually smarter to save most resources for stronger mid-game or late-game weapons unless you find a weapon you really enjoy using.

Higher-level weapons gain much more value from upgrades.

Complete Codex Entries for Easy XP

The Codex system is one of the easiest ways to gain bonus experience early on.

Every monster type has Codex progress tied to it. Killing enough of a creature grants XP rewards. Usually:

  • 8 kills complete normal monster entries
  • 4 kills complete large monster entries
  • 1 kill completes elite entries

Before leaving an area, try finishing Codex progress for nearby enemies. The XP adds up surprisingly fast.

If you play in a group, teammate kills also count toward your Codex.

Learn Combat Timing Early

Combat in Farever rewards timing and movement more than button mashing.

Some important habits to learn early:

Finish Your Combo Chains

Most weapons have stronger effects tied to the final combo hit. Constantly interrupting your attacks lowers your overall damage output.

Keep Moving

Movement is extremely important during fights. Many enemy attacks are easier to avoid simply by repositioning instead of panic dodging constantly.

Save Dodges for Emergencies

Dodging is powerful, but wasting it carelessly often gets players punished during difficult fights.

Practice Perfect Blocks

Perfect blocking reduces massive amounts of damage and does not interrupt your attack combo when timed correctly.

Blocking values:

  • Normal block: 40% reduction
  • Shield block: 60% reduction
  • Perfect block: 85% reduction

Learning this mechanic early makes bosses much easier later.

Healing Potions Are Incredibly Strong Early Game

Alchemy is one of the best beginner professions because healing potions are extremely useful early on.

Minor healing potions restore a huge amount of health relative to your early HP pool. If you play a squishy class like Rogue, these potions can completely save difficult fights.

To craft them:

  1. Buy empty vials from merchants
  2. Gather crafting materials
  3. Use the Alchemy crafting station

Healing potions are one of the cheapest and most useful consumables in the early game.

Use Your Arsenal Slot

At level 7, you unlock the Arsenal system. This lets you equip an extra weapon or shield separately from your main setup.

You can select one ability from that weapon and add it to your skill bar. This allows for:

  • Extra healing
  • Passive bonuses
  • Utility abilities
  • Additional damage skills

Many players forget about Arsenal entirely even though it provides a huge power increase.

Runes Add Extra Effects to Skills

Runes unlock additional effects for your class abilities. These are earned from:

  • Dungeons
  • Quests
  • Sparkling monsters

Once unlocked, runes can modify abilities with effects like:

  • Extra damage
  • Cooldown reduction
  • Movement speed
  • Shields
  • Crowd control

Every skill eventually gets multiple rune choices, allowing for different builds and playstyles.

Talent Trees Unlock at Level 10

Once you hit level 10, talent trees become available. Each level afterward grants a talent point.

Talent trees allow you to specialize your build and improve your class strengths. Even though the current system is still expanding during Early Access, talents already provide major bonuses and stronger combat synergies.

Dungeons Are Worth Farming

Dungeons become one of the best ways to obtain strong gear.

Dungeon rewards include:

  • Better rarity equipment
  • Weapon upgrade materials
  • Runes
  • Resources
  • Gold

Higher difficulties later add even stronger rewards. Farming dungeons regularly is one of the fastest ways to improve your character.

Crafted Gear Is Extremely Strong

Do not ignore crafting professions. Crafted equipment is often stronger than regular dropped gear of the same rarity and level.

Professions also allow you to craft:

  • Potions
  • Buff foods
  • Upgrade materials
  • Inventory pouches
  • Equipment enhancements

Even if you do not craft personally, crafted consumables are valuable for trading later once player economies grow.

Despite still being in Early Access, Farever already has a surprisingly deep progression system with rewarding exploration, smooth combat, flexible builds, and strong MMO-style systems. The game feels much better once you slow down, explore properly, and understand how all its mechanics connect together.

Focus on exploration, complete your Codex entries, salvage your old gear, unlock fast travel points early, and invest carefully into your favorite weapons. If you build good habits during the early game, progression later becomes much smoother and far more enjoyable.
