So you’re playing Survivor.io like usual, clearing stages, upgrading gear… and then suddenly the game introduces mounts. Not just for looks, but something that actually boosts your power in a meaningful way.
If you’re confused about how to unlock them or what all these new items do, don’t worry. Let’s walk through it properly, like I’d explain it to a friend who just unlocked the feature.
Unlock Requirement
This part is simple but easy to miss.
You only unlock the mount system after you:
- Clear Main Chapter 80
Once that’s done, a new section appears in your menu. That’s your mount system, sometimes referred to as the “garage.”
Until then, nothing shows up, so don’t waste time searching for it early.
The Current Mounts
At launch, there are three mounts available:
- Electric Scooter
- Tech Hoverboard
- Doomsteed
Each one has a different feel and progression level, but the way you unlock them is the same.
Unlocking Mounts
Every mount requires Mount Shards.
You don’t unlock them directly. Instead, you:
- Collect shards
- Reach the required amount
- Activate the mount
Typical requirements look like this:
- Scooter needs the least
- Hoverboard sits in the middle
- Doomsteed requires the most
So naturally, most players will unlock the scooter first.
Where to Get Mount Shards
Right now, shards mainly come from:
- Event rewards
- Event exchange shops
- Limited-time offers
If you’re actively playing events, you’ll get a steady flow of shards without needing to spend.
So the best strategy is simple: play events consistently.
Important Rule: Only One Mount Per Battle
This is something a lot of players misunderstand at first.
- You can only equip one mount at a time
- Only the equipped mount’s abilities work in battle
So even if you unlock all three, you still have to choose which one you’re using.
Components: The Real Power Behind Mounts
Mounts aren’t just cosmetic. Their strength comes from components.
Each mount has a grid where you can place components, and these give you stat boosts like:
- Increased damage
- Better boss damage
- Defensive bonuses
This system is what makes mounts actually impactful.
How to Get Components
You’ll need Component Keys to open chests.
You can get these from:
- Events
- Exchanges
- Sometimes shop offers
Once you open chests, you’ll receive components to place in your grid.
The Grid System
The component grid works like a puzzle.
- Each component has a shape
- You place them into a grid
- You can rotate and rearrange them
The goal is to fit as many as possible efficiently.
Bad placement means wasted space, and wasted space means weaker stats.
Line Effects
Here’s where things get interesting.
If you complete a full horizontal row in the grid:
- You activate a Line Effect
These effects:
- Only apply to your active mount
- Give additional bonuses
So ideally, you’re not just placing pieces, you’re trying to complete rows.
Undeployed Mounts
Even mounts you’re not using aren’t useless.
They can:
- Hold components
- Provide a sync bonus
- Give you a portion of their stats
So upgrading multiple mounts is actually beneficial, not wasted effort.
Upgrading Mounts (Star Levels)
Mounts can be upgraded using more shards.
When you increase their star level:
- Stats improve
- New effects unlock
- Overall performance gets better
This is your long-term progression.
Component Fusion and Refinement
Later on, you’ll unlock deeper systems:
Fusion
- Combine weaker components
- Create stronger ones
Refinement
- Reroll component stats
- Adjust builds to fit your playstyle
This is where optimization really starts to matter.
The mount system might look complicated at first, but once you understand the flow, it becomes one of the most rewarding parts of progression.
