The Blood of Dawnwalker has seven different endings, and the outcome you get depends on the choices you make throughout the game. Some endings require specific quests or decisions, while others can be triggered by letting certain objectives fail.

The good news is that you can get all seven endings in a single playthrough. The easiest way to do this is to create a manual save before the final quest, then reload it after getting each ending.

I also recommend making a manual save after defeating all three members of the Vrakhiri Court. This gives you a useful point to return to when working toward the different outcomes.

Here are the ending requirements and steps covered in the current guide.

Ending 1: The Coward’s Path

Type: Bad Ending

For this ending, Coen abandons Vale Sangora instead of continuing his fight.

How to Get The Coward’s Path

  1. Head south toward Briar Sloughs.
  2. Make your way to the Coward’s Path Shrine.
  3. Visit the area at night so you can use Coen’s Vrakhiri traversal abilities.
  4. Use Planeshift and Shadowstep to climb through the canyon.
  5. Cross the broken bridge.
  6. Approach the gates leading out of Vale Sangora.
  7. When the dialogue appears, choose “leave the valley forever.”

A cutscene will play showing Coen abandoning everything and leaving the valley.

This ending unlocks the A Hero They Deserve Trophy/Achievement and also gives you The Blood of Dawnwalker achievement.

You can access this area after the Smoke and Ashes quest.

Ending 2: Time Runs Out

Type: Bad Ending

This ending happens when Coen fails to save his family within the game’s 30-day limit.

How to Get Time Runs Out

The simplest way to trigger this ending is to repeatedly pass time at a Shrine until the 30 days have elapsed.

Once Coen’s family is no longer saved in time, a cutscene shows Brencis killing Coen’s family.

The main objective then changes. Instead of trying to save his family, Coen’s goal becomes avenging them.

This ending does not have a unique Trophy/Achievement, but it still unlocks the main The Blood of Dawnwalker achievement.

Ending 3: Together… Forever…

Type: Bad Ending

This ending is connected to Xanthe and the Home Sweet Home quest.

How to Get Together… Forever…

  1. Travel to the Silts Tower in the southwest.
  2. Open the door to begin Home Sweet Home.
  3. Enter the looping sequence.
  4. After the first cycle, you can find a well that can be inspected using Focus Mode.
  5. Ignore the well.
  6. Complete the loop three more times, making four loops in total.
  7. On the fifth cycle, the sequence changes and Coen returns to his family home.
  8. Split the logs.
  9. Go inside and talk to Esme in the kitchen.

This triggers the ending.

The Together Forever Trophy/Achievement is awarded for this outcome.

How to Escape the Loop

If you don’t want to trigger this ending, you need to investigate the well instead.

Use Focus Mode to inspect it. A voice will speak to Coen, after which you’ll arrive in front of a cave.

Enter the cave to reach a flashback involving the church. Coen then needs to help the priest recover his memories by interacting with people in a specific order while using Focus Mode:

  1. Alin
  2. Esme
  3. Coen

After this, the church door will unlock and take you to another area.

Look for the red, glowing tree stump and use Clawride to reach the river. Complete the interaction there to return Coen to reality, where you’ll have to fight the enemy that attacks.

Ending 4: The Turncoat

Type: Bad Ending

The Turncoat ending has several requirements and involves Coen making a deal with Brencis to protect his family.

Requirements

Before triggering this ending, you need to:

  • Defeat Ambrus, Bakir, and Xanthe within 30 days.
  • Reach maximum Infamy.
  • Pass time until the next day.
  • Start the A Deal with the Devil quest.
  • Discover the location of the Manumit Hideout.

The location of the hideout is learned through three quests:

  • The Firebrand
  • Shadows in the Woods
  • Where Loyalty Lies

How to Get The Turncoat

After defeating the three members of the Vrakhiri Court and reaching maximum Infamy, use a Shrine or otherwise pass enough time to progress to the next day.

This triggers the events leading to A Deal with the Devil.

During the quest, Brencis asks Coen for the location of the Manumit Hideout.

When speaking with Brencis, choose:

  • “I just want my family back.”
  • “I’ll do it.”

Do not pick up a weapon during this sequence, as doing so causes Coen to attack Brencis instead.

Once you’ve learned where the Manumit Hideout is, mark its location as instructed. The following cutscenes will lead into the Turncoat ending.

Ending 5: Folk Hero

Type: Good Ending

The Folk Hero ending has the same initial setup as The Turncoat, but Coen ultimately refuses to side with Brencis.

Requirements

First, you need to:

  • Defeat Ambrus, Bakir, and Xanthe within 30 days.
  • Reach maximum Infamy.
  • Pass time until the next day.
  • Trigger A Deal with the Devil.

When the opportunity to deal with Brencis arrives, choose to fight him instead.

Select:

“Enough. Time to End this.”

This leads Coen into the confrontation with Brencis and triggers the Folk Hero ending.

The ending is tied to The Folk Hero Trophy/Achievement.

How to Confront Brencis Early

There is also a way to reach Brencis much earlier than the normal endgame sequence.

You can head directly to Brencis’s castle after the Prologue and begin the ending sequence without following the normal progression.

There are two ways to enter.

Climb Over the Castle Wall

The easiest time to attempt this is at night.

Head along the path toward Brencis’s castle and use Planeshift and Shadowstep to climb up to the top of the wall.

You’ll receive a warning dialogue before reaching the top. Continue forward and a cutscene will begin, taking you into the ending sequence.

Use the Side Entrance

The other option is to use the castle’s side entrance.

This entrance can be reached during the day or at night. It is located along a short path northwest of the Vedera Shallows Shrine.

You have two ways to get through the side entrance:

  • Work with Father Florin
  • Obtain the Side Gate Key

Work With Father Florin

To get Father Florin’s help, complete the In the Name of the Father quest.

The quest takes Coen through one of the Curious Houses in Svartrau City and eventually to underground ruins where Father Florin spends his time.

You don’t have to agree to help him immediately. As long as you haven’t killed him, you can return later and choose to work together.

To find him, go to the balcony directly north of the West Gate of Svartrau and speak with him.

Choose:

“Alright, let’s work together.”

Father Florin will then explain more about the plan and help Coen access the castle.

Get the Side Gate Key

If you’d rather enter the castle on your own, you can obtain the Side Gate Key by defeating the miniboss Georghe, The Rabid Duke.

Georghe can be found at Racovitza’s Bandit Camp on the eastern edge of the map.

Defeat Georghe and loot his body to obtain the Side Gate Key.

Take the key to the castle’s side entrance and use it to begin the endgame sequence.

Saving Your Game for All Endings

If your goal is to unlock all seven endings, don’t rely on autosaves alone.

The safest approach is to create a manual save before the final quest, preferably after you’ve already defeated the three members of the Vrakhiri Court.

From there, you can complete one ending, reload the save, and make the different choices required for another outcome.

This saves you from having to replay the entire game every time you want to see a different ending.
