In this post, I will tell you about Helio’s complete base stats, how its Repulsor ability works, which community builds players are using, and what native components you unlock as you level up the vehicle. I will also explain what these stats and upgrades mean when you are actually playing the tank.
Helio is not the fastest vehicle in Tyr, and it is not built around massive burst damage either. Instead, you are playing a Heavy that can hold ground, absorb pressure, and make life difficult for enemies trying to push your position. If you understand when to fight, when to use Repulsor, and how to take advantage of your armor, Helio can become a very difficult tank to deal with.
Tyr Helio Guide – Stats, Ability, Best Builds, Components
Helio belongs to the Heavy vehicle class and comes with a strong 1,750 Health, giving you plenty of durability compared to most Light and Medium vehicles.
Here are Helio’s base stats:
- Health: 1,750
- Max Speed: 33 kph
- Reverse Speed: 18 kph
- Damage: 200
- Penetration: 80
- Reload: 7 seconds
- Vision: 400 m
- Detection: 90 m
- Camo: 5%
- Weight: 55,000 kg
- Real Acceleration: 3.10 m/s²
- Difficulty: 4/5
Looking at these numbers, Helio is clearly designed for a slower, more deliberate style of combat. You have plenty of health and good penetration, but your 33 kph maximum speed means you cannot simply rotate around the battlefield like a Light tank.
That means positioning matters a lot. Once you commit Helio to one side of the map, getting somewhere else quickly can be difficult. I would recommend thinking about where the main fight is likely to happen before fully committing.
Your 200 base damage is respectable, while 80 penetration allows you to deal with a good range of enemy armor. You are not carrying the highest-damage cannon in the game, but Helio’s firepower becomes more interesting when you start using its native components.
Helio’s Repulsor Ability Explained
Helio’s special ability is called Repulsor.
When activated, Helio projects an expanding bubble at a target location that repulses enemies for 15 seconds.
This ability is what gives Helio a lot of its battlefield control. Instead of simply focusing on dealing damage, you can use Repulsor to interfere with enemy positioning and make certain areas difficult for them to occupy.
For example, if enemies are trying to push through a narrow position, placing Repulsor correctly can disrupt their movement and make their attack much harder to execute. You can also use it to protect an important position or create breathing room when your team is under pressure.
I would not recommend wasting Repulsor randomly. Since Helio is already a slower Heavy, controlling space is extremely valuable to you. Think about where enemies want to go and use the ability to make that position uncomfortable for them.
How Helio Plays in Battle
When I look at Helio’s stats and ability together, I see it primarily as a position-control Heavy tank.
You have:
- High Health
- Good penetration
- Heavy durability
- A battlefield-control ability
- Native upgrades that reward bouncing enemy shots
This means you generally want to be involved in the main fight rather than wandering around alone.
Helio works best when you are fighting around cover and forcing enemies to engage you on unfavorable terms. Your job is not necessarily to chase fast vehicles across the map. Instead, you want enemies to come into your fighting area, where your armor, teammates, and Repulsor can work together.
Because of your lower speed, being caught out of position can be painful. Try to avoid situations where fast Lights or Mediums can simply drive around you and attack from multiple directions.
Helio’s Kinetic Absorber Component
The first native component you unlock for Helio is Kinetic Absorber, available at Level 3.
Kinetic Absorber Effect
Bouncing an enemy shot speeds up your active reload by 1 second.
This is a very interesting component because it directly rewards you for using your armor properly.
Normally, Helio has a 7-second reload. When you bounce enemy shots, Kinetic Absorber helps speed up your active reload, allowing you to get your next shell ready faster.
This means your armor is not only protecting your Health—it can also improve your offensive potential.
If you are fighting from a strong position and enemies are repeatedly bouncing shots off you, Helio can become much more dangerous than its basic 200 damage might initially suggest.
This is one reason why I would recommend learning how to position your armor effectively. A bounced shell means you avoided damage, and with Kinetic Absorber, you also gain a firepower benefit.
Adaptive Hardening Explained
At Level 6, Helio unlocks Adaptive Hardening.
Adaptive Hardening Effect
Reduces Damage Taken by 0.6% each second you are spotted. The effect maxes out at 12% and resets when you become unspotted.
This component makes Helio even more comfortable during extended fights.
As long as you remain spotted, Adaptive Hardening gradually increases your damage reduction. Eventually, the effect can reach a maximum of 12% reduced damage taken.
This creates an interesting situation where Helio becomes tougher the longer it remains exposed to enemy attention.
Of course, that does not mean you should drive into the open and let everyone shoot you. You still need to use cover and armor intelligently. However, during a sustained frontline battle, Adaptive Hardening can make Helio increasingly difficult to remove.
The important thing to remember is that the effect resets when you become unspotted. So this component is particularly valuable when you are actively holding a contested position.
Sense Overdrive Explained
At Level 10, Helio unlocks its final native component, Sense Overdrive.
Sense Overdrive Effect
Increases Max Speed and Max Reverse Speed by 4.5 kph while you are spotted.
Helio’s normal maximum speed is 33 kph, while its reverse speed is 18 kph.
With Sense Overdrive active, you gain an additional 4.5 kph to both speeds while spotted.
This might not turn Helio into a fast tank, but it can still be very useful.
The extra speed can help you:
- Reach cover more quickly
- Pull back from dangerous positions
- Adjust your angle during a fight
- Move around cover more effectively
- Reposition while under enemy pressure
For a Heavy vehicle, even a relatively small mobility boost can make a noticeable difference. Since Helio’s biggest weakness is its limited speed, Sense Overdrive gives you a useful advantage during the moments when you are actively being targeted.
Best Community Builds for Helio
There are several interesting Helio builds in the community, and they focus on different ways of playing the tank.
You can build Helio as a tougher frontline fortress, focus on improving its ability usage, or create a more aggressive fighting setup.
Armor Helio Build
The Armor Helio build uses:
- Bulkheads
- Mobility Surger
- Kinetic Absorber

My Recommended Helio Playstyle
Personally, I would play Helio as a durable frontline controller.
I would focus on getting into a strong position early and staying close enough to the main fight that I can support my team. Since Helio is slow, I would avoid chasing enemies too far or committing to isolated flanks.
During fights, I would try to:
- Use cover to protect weaker areas
- Force enemies to shoot angled armor
- Take advantage of Kinetic Absorber when shots bounce
- Use Repulsor to control important areas
- Stay near teammates instead of fighting alone
- Avoid getting surrounded by faster vehicles
- Reposition carefully because Helio cannot escape quickly
The biggest mistake you can make with Helio is forgetting that you are still vulnerable to being outmaneuvered. Your Health and armor are excellent, but multiple fast enemies attacking from different angles can quickly create problems.
Helio is one of the more interesting Heavy vehicles in Tyr because it combines durability with battlefield control.
You have 1,750 Health, 80 penetration, a 7-second reload, and the powerful Repulsor ability. On top of that, your native components reward you for bouncing shots, surviving extended engagements, and moving while under enemy pressure.
If you enjoy playing a tank that can hold important positions and make enemies think twice before pushing forward, Helio is definitely worth learning.
The key is patience. Do not try to play Helio like a fast Medium or Light. Use your durability, choose your position carefully, let enemies come into your fighting range, and use Repulsor at the right moment to disrupt their plans.
Once you start combining good positioning with Helio’s armor, Kinetic Absorber, and Repulsor, you can become exactly what a Heavy tank should be: a major problem that the enemy team cannot easily ignore.
